It's been a while since I've tried to make a plug, the last time I tried it was for an EV Override Plug, I wanted to make my most favorite ship in the game available to buy. The Dreadnought, it took me two days to capture it and so I wanted to make this ship available to buy for a hefty price. Just so I could rebuy it if I needed a faster ship for a mission. I never finished it, I was inneficiently equipped to do the job, I still have lots of the stuff used to make these but I wanna make a good plug for EV Nova. I need to know which programs (free preferably), that I could use to make a plug. I already have ResEdit 2.13 so know I just need the other things.

It is a free set of editors for ResEdit that make it easy to make plugins for Nova.

'EnRLE/DeRLE' and 'Sprites' would be very helpful for adding ship graphics. Both can be found under utilities on the addons page for EVN.

I had already downloaded half of these & I just downloaded the other half, but since I never was familiar with ResEdit I just downloaded the entire manual. It's gonna take me a long time to build anything worth sh*t. Any suggestion? I don't know what to use for making ships, any programs(free or not) that would be useful?

If you already have NovaTools and have it all installed correctly, don't sweat in. I don't know jack about ResEdit but using the NovaTools templates makes creating plugs a cake walk. So I woudn't worry about reading the ResEdit guides. Just get familiar with the Nova bible, if you haven't already. It really has everything there is to know about makin' plugs.

I have all these things downloaded now, so I read throught the long EV Bible, does it actually tell me how to make a decent plug? If not, is there any uide out there that I can use to make plugs easier?

The bible is really your best bet, as there's really nothing else out there. (Although I did come across a site one time that had a couple walk-through - I'll try and track that down again.) Try downloading a couple plugs or just looking at the Nova files in ResEdit to see what is used with what. The hardest thing to remember is just how to tie resources together. Basically, a good way to start is to come up with a simple idea first. Just an aspect of the game you want to change. Say you want to be able to buy a Kestrel on Earth for 100cr. Or you want to create your own killer version of an innocent little shuttle. Read the section on ships in the Nova bible then go to work. The best way to learn this is just to do it. That's cliche to say but it's true. Everyone here has learned simply by doing and experimenting.

I wish they had the Docks like they did for EV Override, that was a good program. As for making ships, I've downloaded Strata but that requires 10 bucks & I'm not ready to part with it just yet. I got Mechanisto so I'm going to have to learn how to work that.

I haven't looked at the Bomb stuff, but the above has helped me a lot when I couldn't figure out the bible. Also, it provides example files.
