Blast, I didn't know that. I was planning on using that app on my now-OS X G4.

-edit- And the problem with that is my G4 does not reboot in OS 9 - it crashes every time and I have to completely re-install OS X).

Mine wont start up into OS 9, the only way I can get it to is by starting up off of the cd. So unfortunately its useless to me too. I wish someone would make it so it worked in Classic Mode.

Yes, the exact same case here. Perhaps you could try e-mailing the author and convincing him to make an OS X version. Make sure to say please.

    • I severely doubt Pontus will care. 🙂

Remember, EVONE is available, and performs a similar function to EVODM in carbon form.

    • I dont like EVONE's interface, its just annoying looking to me, I dont know why. Well I guess there is a program called tcmapmaker on there too guess I'll give it a try.

    • Hmm, after your comment there I decided I would have a proper go at EVONE, and I definitely see where your comment is coming from...

Plus it's inability to edit spöbs at the moment makes it of pretty much zero use to me right now.

Please tell me why you don't like it and what would be better and it will be changed. Simple as that 🙂 (The interface on the version just released to testers is slightly different and, I believe, much improved.)

Yes, that is what the next major editor will be, but will probably not make it into the next release. The template driver can edit spobs though, so that may be of limited use when it is released.

    • For one thing the blinking of the systems after you click them gets on my nerves very quickly.

I also just figured out how to place links in between systems.

And I have yet to figure out how to get the syst editor to work.

Which adds up to me to be very annoying.

Then theres the fact that you have to wait for the program to start up to even do anything, which is the most annoying thing of all.

-Edit-The systems in the Galaxy Editor do not retain their names.

The blinking has been removed, it was indeed annoying.

I don't think I can improve creating links - dragging between systems with the link tool is about as easy as it gets.

The syst editor works in the same way as the galaxy editor, but you may be having problems because of my next point.

The systems you are changing are not retaining their names because you currently have to hit return or tab to make changes stick. I am working on removing this limitation for the next release.

Finally, programs generally do have to start up before they can work 🙂 EVONE isn't that slow at starting up and it is a one-time delay instead of having small pauses while the program is running. I have made the decision to do a lot of the calculations during startup in order to make the program run more quickly in general.

I just realized the delay you are seeing is longer than what I experience because of the demo countdown. If you register, that delay goes away as well 🙂 😉

Edit: I forgot to mention: If anyone experiences any problems with EVONE, please post on my forums (http://forums.ariossoftware.com). The beta testers and myself will be happy to help you.

I don't want to register an editor until I know it is finished, because as I am a kid with little to no money I cant stand wasting $10.

I know, thats why the smilies were there 🙂 I understand completely. Hopefully, the next release will work much better, making a few more people register, making the next release better. See, it will all be a circle until everyone is satisfied!

    • Yeah. I've done a lot of shareware registering recently, but at the moment EVONE is just too unfinished to be worth my money... when there's a good spöb editor then I think I will reconsider.

I'm glad you got rid of the blinking, by the way... 😄

Hehe, it seemed like such a good idea when I firt implemented it! Then, I started using my own syst editor, and wow was it annoying (try hitting Command-A to select all, but watch out!!!). The blinking was actually removed the day the PB was released - only a few hours too late to make it in.

The next release will not, unfortunately, include a full spob editor, but it will contain a very powerful template driver with built-in help for each field and a few more cool features. Not only is there template driver support for all the EV resources, but a large number of normal Mac OS resources as well. EVONE's template driver can even edit PICT resources by breaking them down into their fields (size, dimensions, and a hex dump of the PICT data). Not that anyone really wants to edit pictures by entering hex... 🙂
