    • Let's throw in another program... Carrara Studio 2, by Eovia. Has anybody heard of it?
It's the new product/version of Infini-D. I have been working with Infini-D for ages, kind of. I had no Idea what to use it for till last year and then uncovered an old version of EVC on a slightly scratched MacFormat... Those were the days. Anyway, can anyone help me here, I thought I saw someone who said they worked for Eovia * Stands on nearest ledge to look out at the masses of usernames* Thanks All.

      (1) 'gravedigging' does not apply to topics that are still on the first page and are only 9 days old.
      (2) 'gravedigging' is only frowned upon on this board if (a) the topic is more than about 6 months old or (🆒 the digger has nothing useful to add.

It is for the moderators to decide what is permissible and what is not.

By the way, While where on the subjuct. In Strata, can any one tell me how to add details like cutting grooves in to the shape or "drilling" wholes through a shape or simply slicing off a piece of a shape? These seem to me to be things that any 3d program worth it's salt should be able to do. Also about textures or making and using custom textures to be more specific. I was trying to make the rough shape for the Jupiter2 from the Lost In Space movie and then use a screen shot I took from the scene in the movie when they are flying through the planet and the ship turns sideways over the water(the only good overhead shot in the movie) to wrap around the ship but it looks like crap. ANy suggestions?

Ok, I assume you are using the free version. With it, there is only one way of doing this while with Pro, you can use boolean subtractions and such like. The only way you can do it in free is by using anti-matter objects. I shall explain:

You need to have 2 objects : one base shape that you want the shape cut from, and one object the shape of the cut part. Having more then one anti-matter object can sometimes create probjems if they overlap (two negatives make a positive!), so make sure there are no overlapping a-m objects.

To make the cutting object anti-matter, select it and go to the project window. Find the object in the project window (the hilighted one), and expand its properties. Simply check the anti-matter box. I would like to take this point to explain that this is why it is always good to name (or label) objects using the object property pallet.

You will need to texture the anti-matter object the texture that you want to cut away section to be, as it cuts away the texture that it is.

      Hope that made sense 🙂

Thats kind of weird seeing as the latest version of Strata made is 3.8, and in development 3.9...

I wouldnt go bragging about pirating software on the boards, its not concidered highly. Im not saying dont do it, just dont advertise it. I have no opinions either way.

As far as the tut goes, Ive not even started. Well, Ive got a ship planned for it, but I really am having problems making a tutorial for basic ships, seeing as all my ships are made in a variety of programs.

I will work on it as soon as all my major projects are finnished.

No matter which way you polish it, you still pirated the software. Strata recieved no money for it. This means that they wont recieve profit and will now be one less person from releasing a new, feature added version of Strata. They cant keep going on making software if they recieve no money for it.

      Thats just my opinion though...

I am saving up for my version of Strata 3D Pro, and am happy to do so as I like the software and want them to keep making new versions of it.

Just to add: I recommend just making do with the free version (downloadable from my site) until you can use it properly while you save up for pro. Just because you have a version of the program that costs $500, doesnt mean that you can automatically make things that are 500 times better than the free version. It doesnt work that way. Get good with the free then move to Plus or Pro - its a natural progression.

I agree completley, especially with the paying part. If you are too poor/young (tends to follow each other). Then I can accept it (i pirate sometimes), but when you can afford it it's good to pay. Anyway, this topic is not dug up.

Being too young or poor is no excuse not to pay for software. If you can't have a piece of software legally, then you don't get to have it at all. Deal with it.

Yup! Hence I suggested the free version of Strata while saving up for pro.

I agree and disagree with that, sure you should pay for it. But if you need it and can't buy it... Hmmm, I guess that dosen't count. Okay, okay, you are totally in the right and I am in the wrong. In most cases. Especially with Strata 3D.

I buy all the games I get and all the high priced software I get NFR. Hmmm, I guess I have it easy. I did have to buy my computer, quite expensive.
