    • Tome of Elixir

Where do I find the tome of Elixir? I've made it to high garendall, but I went to the cave on the eastern side, but the only thing in that cave is a bridge that goes to a platform and no other place. Then if I do not cross the bridge, and follow the tunnel, I end up on the western side of High Garendall. Those are the only 2 caves on that level of high garendall.
This is what I do. I come out of the temple, and go east. Then I go north up the zig zag path to the ruins, I cross the bridge, and am then on the plains with the ruins. I head east to the cliffs, and follow the cliffs till I come to the cave entrance.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As a newcomer to the game and these boards, I would have to say that is one of the most unwelcoming comments I have ever heard on the gaming boards I have been on. I realized there is a walkthrough, but to be honest, it doesn't cover everything completely and some might not realize it exists unless someone "kindly" points it out to them. It is a great walkthrough, but sometimes some people may want some specific advice that they can't decipher from the walkthrough. I have followed some of the screen directions and due the nature of the "screen system" of this game it is tough to follow. I know I have had to go off from the directed screen directions to find some of the important places. I also know there are certain aspects of the game that aren't on the walkthrough.

All I am saying is give the newcomers a break. It isn't that hard to politely say, "Hey, you may want to check out Stark's walkthrough at this site".... and you may want to try some searches for topics on the boards, rather than the comment above and the sarcastic comment made to me on another thread regarding the "shiny search button". I know this may step on some toes, but I have lived a lot of years and treating people kindly is always the best way to make an impression. I am just asking the "vets" here to keep that in mind.

Ranger14 + + ! Well said. Some of the "vets" here still have some growing-up to do and they get a little too excited at times.

Hi SeanBoz. Welcome to the boards. Sorry about the uproar. What you missed is that in the east cave, in the northwest corner, there are stairs leading down to a cave underneath the ones you've been in. In addition to the references you were given above, you might like a map which includes all the underground portions of Garendall. It is available in my signature below. Enjoy your game, and ignore the insensitive ones. πŸ™‚ ~RD

      Mr. Ranger14,

Sorry that you found this to be so. Don't worry though, this is far from the norm.

    • Sorry Stark, it is a great walkthrough! I did mention that right? πŸ™‚ Probably better than any I have ever used. There are some things like the Sword of Courage Quest that aren't detailed on the walkthrough and special items list. It doesn't cover going back to the loremaster, and then getting the three choices and what those choices mean to the player. Unless I just plain missed it, which is entirely possible. πŸ˜› Then again, I personally don't think every little thing should be on the walkthrough. Wouldn't be much of a purpose for a board to discuss the game if the walkthrough covered everything little thing.

I was just trying to make a point about posting here and didn't intend it to be at your expense or to take away from the walkthrough. Please accept my apology there.

Yep, that's on my to-do list. Plug-ins are, in my opinion, the weakest area of the walkthrough. Info on Spells Expander will be added at some point though.

Stomp on it, everyone mentions the (url="http://"http://stark.evula.net/pogwalkthrough.htm")Walkthrough(/url) anyway and today's crop of new players is not getting a chance to figure things out on their own. You probably remember as I do when it was only about six pages long and few people knew there was a blue mushroom, much less where to find it and what it did. If I hadn't gotten tired of crashing my computer with AAC's monster map, the Rubber Ducky map would never have happened. I'm waiting for the day when the complaints start that the map doesn't include all the new areas in the plug-ins.

Good to hear from you once in a while, Cafalll, keep us posted on any progress. The Rubber Ducky plug-in is now about 18.76% done.

      Liar.

I have it from good sources that the Rubber Ducky plug-in is only 18.756278361827647812364782364923475636561618072681234756103827561083756073485646% complete.

    • Thanks all.
I have looked at the walk thru for the tome of elixir. I searched the faq, and then I searched the boards. Then I posted.
I have completely explored that cave many times and there are only the 2 sets of stairs, one goes to the east side of the cliffs, and the other goes to the west side of the cliffs. Is there a secret set of stairs that are not showing up? I've tried walking into the cave walls, and still no luck. Maybe I have to have something special in order to get the stairs to appear?

      Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hi SeanBoz, First let me say that I think several of us owe you an apology for letting this thread get out of hand and off track. It must have been a case of 'cabin fever.'

Look at the top right corner of (url="http://"http://mywebpage.netscape.com/rduckfwj/pog/page1.gif")this page(/url) and you will see exactly where the stairs are. The one thing you didn't mention above is looking at the map. It would be unthinkable, but pretty funny, if your's was the only copy of PoG which came without a set of stairs loaded. When you do find them, I just know you're going to say "how the heck did I miss those?" Please post back with the result, we're all routing for you. πŸ™‚ ~RD

      Mr. SeanBoz,

You're in the right place. Going into the cave from the eastern side of High Garendall is the easiest route. Inside this cave there will be an exit to the west side which will take you to another cave map, but there is also the set of stairs leading down on this map. They are located on the northwestern side of this initial cave map. Head down these stairs and you will be able to locate the tome.
