Alright, this is a plug being worked on by myself, no_use_for_a_name and Azarda.
(currently anyway).
We made this post mainly because our other one was getting large, but also to recrute more people.

Our idea(had you not been following) was to make a TC with a very large Galaxy, many governments, and pictures and whatever else comes in a TC. The main government we had been discussing was the New Era, a highly advanced non-geneticly altered human race. If we can't get up the team/ability/guts to make a TC, we'll be making a plug with the New Era as the base.

I've been working on a plug called the New Axiom that should be complete pretty soon. (I'm hoping before the holidays...we'll see). Anyway I was going to be looking to expand it into a total conversion later on. Perhaps if we get some ideas together we could try to merge the two plugs down the road. The New Axiom is really coming together as an intro to a different scenario and will end where the TC will pick up. I'll take some time to read through your other thread and get back to you. But for now I'd be interested in teaming up with some talented individuals to create a dynamic, high quality TC.

So far I have created two ships, two governments (that kind of overlap as one), and a whole new sector in the nova galaxy. I am about a third through the missions and have one more ship to build before the New Axiom is ready to be tested, but if you would like some info on what I can and have been doing let me know. I could try to explain what some of my ideas are but I don't want to devulge to much at this point--at least not to the general public. Anyway, I'm off to the other thread...

The New Axiom/New Era thing sounds good. I will get to work on creating the New Era galaxy of systems south of Aurora. BTW we are keeping all the current systems, missions and making a plug the size of a TC, like a second Nova, I think. I do not think that my original idea of replacing the systems to the west will not work. I will also make a new Gov with technology that is really poor, kinda worse than aurorans. They aren't savage though. We mainly need mission writers, but any help/ideas would be surely appr. We could definetly use another graphics person, especially someone who uses Strata, as I can edit these.
Side note, if its OK with everyone then the person who said they were a writer in our other post could become the writer.(Name begins with a w, can't remember who)
Another side note: Would a Mod not close down our other topic, otherwise this one will become cluttered with Techno Babble.

So, do you wan't my help? I can write some mission desc's, and can help with the creation of stuff in res-edit, like I said I'm good at balancing ship's weapons and suggestions, I'm good at writing Ship Desc's, and I can spell (I hope). Plus if you want more governments, we can always use the Yamato Empire who steals others tech's, and creates there own (they can't have all stolen tech's, that'd be like the rebels).

ER thanks for the email. Like I said in the post above, I probably won't be able to be of much help till I fininsh the new axiom plugin. I'm getting set to work on it for awhile tonight and I really don't have too much left. But I wouldn't be able to contribute too much until after the holiday.

I like the ideas, although somewhat vague, of what you are doing. I think that your models and landing pict are cool despite the low resolution and lack of detail texturing. If we are going to try putting something together, rather than make a plug that has lot's of systems, governments and ships, the focus should be more on quality than quantity. Maybe that's what you all want, too. Great. It can be a big plugin, and more power to it, if it is. Bottom line though I think that a TC needs to at least be a lateral movement in quality to what is already in Nova. Otherwise what's the point. I hope that sounds encouraging and not snotty. I think that you are headed in a good direction. I just want to see what we can come up with, and see the direction of what we are capable of doing before I commit myself completely. I don't want to put myself in a position of spending an enormous amount of time on something that doesn't happen. And just the same, I don't want to spend an inadequate amount of time on something I wouldn't be completely proud of putting out.

Sorry for being long winded. Bottom line right now I plan on finishing the intro plug for the new axiom. Meanwhile, I'll keep in contact and keep checking the posts on the dev board. When I get done, we can see where both of our projects are at, and see if we can paint a colorful blend. Thanks.

The idea of mine was a plugin that had a goverment that wanted to bring the world together in a peaceful way, but that goverment grew corrupted. Then the idea of A Expansion TC came when Azdara joined. It is now going to feature cool goverments (aliens, organised pirates, breakoff goverments) and the like, going to the east and south of the map. I recently had to install OS9 and 9.1, and I lost the reg code for Nova on my machine. D'oh! Visit that website that (gritted teeth)I've-been-try-trying-to-get-to-work-for-hours (/end gritted teeth) to see what each of us are doing. I think Willis is joining if that's ok with Meaker/Azdara/Willis.
The images like I said need texturisng and decompressing to be fabulous.
BTW, if you need help with the New Axxiom to get it done quicker then I at least can help a bit.

Thank you very much. At this point it's a matter of tying up the loose strings and finishing the missions. It's kind of interesting though, the majority of 'new axiom' space takes place on the western side of the map. It seems like your plans so far don't cover that area. Perhaps this is all meant to be ;). Anyway, I really appreciate your offer, but at this point I kind of want to finish it up myself. It would probably take awhile just to fill you in on what I've been doing. But thanks.

On a side note. I use Cinema 4d Go! for my ships and was curious if I could import the models and work on texturing them--at least to see what I could come up with. I'm not trying to say I could do a better job, but it might be a way to work on graphics together. I really like the models you all have come up with. I'll look into what types of files I can import and get back to you. But in the meantime, so you know, I primarily like to do ships, planets, and landing pictures. I also feel I have a knack for storyline and definitely english and grammar issues. I don't want to be an all time proofreader or anything, but I can definitely help there, too. That's it for now. But really; I thought they could use better textures/bump maps myself. I'm not really that experianced at doing this, while working on the plug I randomly discovered my ability to make graphics. I couldn't figure out how to get the ships to look really good; but I could do pretty well for someone who didn't have a clue the day before he made those.

I'm not at all sure what's going on anymore, If we're going for quality then I need to remake/redesign many of my things. So does Azarda....

I (still) would support the idea of a TC that replaced all the graphics and systems and added some governments to the existing. Many of the planets could remain even, we'd just change their orientation around. It's really hard to get realistic looking things in Mechanisto.

About our site; the writing needs to be a different color. It dissipears partway through.

Please don't take me wrong. I think that the models look really good. Just the texturing is a little plain. I'm willing to help if I can. I tend to be a nit-picker and try to be very detail oriented. If you all want to do your own thing, don't let me slow you down. I'm just offering suggestions for a project that I would want to be involved with. Cool.

For anybody still wishing to join and Meaker or anyone else who's confused, the way I see it is this.
We will keep all goverments and eveything of the original Nova, add 4/5 more goverments and all the missions/descriptions/whatever else that goes with them.

Do you wan't me to start working on my government for you guys? I think we will mostly need old ships with new a new background color for the government. I think they will steal Anaconda's, Fed Vipers, Manticores, Thunderheads, and Mod Starbridges, and upgrade them with there more-powerfull weapons (thats for you guys to decide).

I had a question. On the info page of the website your description says:

Does this flow? How is a judge, jury and executioner style of law used to bring about peace? Are you thinking in an authoritarian-fascist type of way? If so it might be better suited to say something like:

The New Era aims to bring the world together under a heavy handed, powerful visage of peace. Their technology is used and limited to achieving such ends through a judge, jury, and executioner style of law.

I'm not saying I like that more, it just seems to follow. It also sets up the New Era as an unintentionally tyrannical government that will stop at nothing to achieve their end: Peace. Unfortunately in this situation they would be too blinded by something, like their growing power, to understand that peace cannot really be achieved through violence...Their fatal flaw.
