It would be cool if I could make it do more damage depending on the armor status. You know, the weaker the ship, the more damage it takes per hit. If that's not possible, then it'll be a turreted short range damageless PD weapon, although how the AI will handle it when they are trying to board... some weird setbacks. Ah well, AI will of course be AI.

No, but you can have the muzzle flashes. There is an option in the shรคn called "weapon," see the Federation destroyers.
Edit: on the other hand, you could use the "unfold to fire" option, but that's the closest thing you can get. The Asteroid Miner uses it.
