Whenever I try to edit weapons using NovaTools, it works the first time (sometimes) and then crashes. Error type 7 in "ResEdit". Requires restart. You know, the error message with the bomb? OS 8.1. I am using an emulator, but it messes up on my real Macintosh too.

Try giving it more memory. Maybe your version of OS is the problem.

Exactly how much do you give it? Can anyone interpret what Error type 7 means? The weap dialog opens once, and then the next time I try to open a weapon resource, the dialog loads most of the way and then the system crashes. Every other part of NovaTools works fine, although it is too bad that the Pictmaker one doesn't have a reverse like EnRLE does.

Error type 7 is a dsPrivErr (privilege violation error). So apparently you dont have enough privileges to take that action. I've never run into this type of error, and its sort of strange, because OS 9 doesnt honor many privileges.

I am talking about OS 8.1. It is running on an emulator, on my PC, but the rest of NovaTools works perfectly. I also own a (bad) Mac, and NovaTools weap editor crashes on that too. Same OS, so maybe NovaTools weap editor doesn't work with OS 8?

I'm having the same problem...only I get an error of type 1. I've been trying to see if I can upgrade to OS 8.5 or better but have been unable to. Guess I'll have to give up on looking at/changing weapon stats...

I've tried resedit with 6megs, 15megs and 100megs minimum...each time I got that error so if it is a memory error, it means my mem is bad...

No, I just think that the weap editor is slightly messed up. Too bad, the few times I have actually seen it it seemed much simpler to use than templates.

I don't think I can...seeing as the OS 8.5.1 update I downloaded tells me it only updates OS 8.5. OS 8.1 to OS 8.5 isn't in the Apple update download site. I guess I'm just screwed when it comes to novatools =(

Multiple times. I've even re-downloaded it. Still get the same error. Guess I'll just have to wait till I get my hands on a g3...

The only time NovaTools crashes when I am in the Weap or outf section is if I am doing something to quickly. I don't know what you do, but I usually count up all the weapons or outfits I need and then just create that many blank files. Sometimes I got to fast and it barfs. Haven't done it in a while, and probably has no relation to your problem, but meh.
