    • Hmm, it appears to be 1.0.1 (I think), but I thought I upgraded. Gosh darnit. I'll download and MAKE SURE I've upgraded.
(EDIT: Maybe it was the upgrade to 1.0.1-- and I DID READ the README! Sorry about my stupidity!)
I know where the SoL is too!! Want a hint?

      🙂

After you install the upgrade check to make sure the crashing is gone. Let me know if it hasn't.

And just as an FYI, the basis for this:

Pillars of Garendall was created with a program called Coldstone, which is also used to make plug-ins for PoG. Coldstone had bugs(still has bugs, heh), but it also lacked some features that people wanted.

PoG was released and a bit later Coldstone was released. A bit later Coldstone was updated. One of the updates included the ability to send a player to a randomly assigned location which was previously improbable to do(not impossible, just so darned long and tedious that it wasn't likely to be done).

So Coldstone was updated to allow this which meant plug-in designers could use this feature. BUT, PoG had to be updated in order to recognize the code changes.

Thus, PoG 1.0.2 was released. And any plug-ins that use this new Coldstone code require the updated PoG in order to run. Otherwise you get the old PoG software trying to run the new Coldstone code and crashes occur.

I hope this was informative. 🙂

Tanis has vowed that he's going to find this on his own, so I don't think he wants a hint. He happens to have a gift game which came with SoL, so he knows the weapon, he just doesn't know where it came from (hehehe).

You sent him a game file, eh?

You know, I might have been upset about a beta tester of mine doing something like this... Except, that in a case like this, that is just soooo cruel and tortuous that, well, it makes me laugh and smile. So, I'll over look it. 🙂

    • Oh, crazy people. Simple question-- where do you select what slot you want to place the memory in? I seem to have replaced the first memory (in the slot) with another. Did I skip a dialog box?

Are you talking about the mark / recall spell?

When you cast mark you will be given a dialog box to enter in text that helps you identify the marked location. The spell will then put that location in the first open slot it finds. If all your memory slots are full I don't believe you can save that location(the spell may not even cast.. I don't recall off hand).

When you cast recall on a location that location is erased from your memory. If you want to retain it then you will need to recast mark.

I'm fairly sure it isn't, though I don't recall exactly.

An easy test is to cast the mark, then cast recall twice. The first recall return to the mark you just placed, and the second recall will show you if that mark is still present or not... 🙂

If you manage to fill your 3 slots up and need to mark a location then you can use erase memory to remove a slot of your choice.

I'll save you the test. When you cast Recall, the spot is no longer recorded. I thought the "stupid thing was broke" the first time I tried to get back to the same spot twice. If MY memory slot is still working, Mark will not cast if all three slots are assigned. ~RD

Edit: As far as the Oh, crazy people goes, macmaxbh, we've been called worse. 🙂

I just love asking people how my plug-in works... 😛

Anyways, does Quarius explain this when you ask him about Recall? If not I suppose I probably better redo his explanation to include this aspect of the spell. Then I can just respond to questions like this with, "Ask the guy who sold you the spell!" hehe.

On that one, I'd either have to ask the guy who sold me the plug-in, or trot all the way back to the tower and ask Quarius. Stark, when you asked us to look over your plug-in, you didn't tell us we were going to have a written quiz on it. 😛

    • I finished the game--- for the first time. Wow. Very neat. The Guardian was a sinch with SoL and Moki-- ;-). Adrenaline pumping as I went through the caves-- now I want a sequel! Ah well, I guess I'll wait for the plugins. But I really want to do the "next quest" and contact the other peoples! It sounds really fun. Is anyone making a plugin on that?

There was talk a while back about someone working on either a plug-in or a standalone "PoG 2" but I haven't heard of anything since. So to my knowledge, no. But that doesn't mean someone isn't doing something in secret... 🙂

YES! About five plug-ins that I know of have other quests and new people to talk to. You'll just have to wait a bit. ~RD

    • What I meant is the "next quest" specified in the end-game-text, when it talks about you going beyond the mountains and contacting the peoples who live there-- inviting them to Garendall and getting miners to come to mine, the magicians coming back, etc.
