    • Titan A.E.

Who remembers that swell movie Titan A.E.? Why weren't those aliens darn scary? I love Disney movies!

Sorry. Momentary lapse of reason. I could't resist. Anyway wouldn't that be a great tc? Please add ideas.

Yes, it would make a good TC, but almost every plug developer is working on their own TCs at the moment... Personally, I think TCs should be based on original ideas thought up by the developer or somebody close to said developer, ie knew and exciting.

      I guess I shouldn't talk... coughHHGcough

    • I loved that movie. I think it should have gotten a lot more attention than it did.

    • I liked the soundtrack very much. The story/atmosphere wasn't too bad either.

I agree wholeheartedly. People should only work on entirely original creations.

As for originality, please read on.

Yes, I realize it is not an original concept, but the world of Titan A.E. is a world I would love to see expanded upon. I'm not saying simply rehash the movie, but integrate the many different styles you saw in the movie. There's plenty of races to go around -- Mantrin, human, Drej, Akrennian, etc -- and plenty of planets. In a way, I'll say EVN borrows a bit from TAE: for example, the Valkyrie in Titan and its in EVN look too alike to call it a coincidence. I'd have it after humanity regained their identity, starting out on planet Bob :). That, however, would rule out the drej, but hey, can't make an omelette without busting a few eggs. Of course I'd never want to see a carbon copy of something in a game. I just couldn't help but notice that Titan A.E. offered so much room to be expanded, and what a better way to do it than with Nova. We've done Star Wars, Stargate, and Star Trek, lets let another scifi movie at it.

P.S. I know NOTHING about making plugs, I don't even have a registered version of EVN yet, but I'm always around to offer pointers in plot and weapon design. I just post ideas on here to plant seeds of inspiration. I am but a humble servant of the board...

Well, for EVO at least. It would look spiffy on EVN though....

BTW, how do you do italics?

    • Hrm. Haven't seen the movie, but I fully agree with the basic idea. And Stargate would be purty durn cool on the EV3 engine. Now, if we could only figure out how to put Matrix on Nova... Hrm. I guess you could do the basic idea, but you'd be pretty much limited to the hovercraft, no first-person stuff. But I still like the basic idea of big beefy robots chasing you all over the place, then you trying to hide and using a last-ditch weapon against them... Desperate, uphill battles against incredible odds... Yes... There's some poetic justice there. It'd be hard, but you could do something loosely based on it.

BTW, Mantaray, grammar is spelled with an 'a'. Just a friendly reminder from the local UBB spellchecker... ๐Ÿ˜„

But I'm getting off the subject. Limited 'guided inspiration' (aka 'semi-legal plagiarism') is always good. EG, I took the idea for the big badguys in the plug I'm helping on, the UTLC, from 3 sources: Farenheit 451 , by the unsurmountable Ray Bradbury, the 'New Moralists' from Ben Bova's Moonwar , and the UNEF from The Forever War , by somebody else, don't remember who. And, of course, people like the Tyrann (easy to guess who's the badguys there, huh?) from Isaac Asimov's The Stars, Like Dust. And a couple of hundred much more obscure books. Yeah, I'm an SF junkie, cantcha tell?

Hey, if the movie was that good, than somebody will run with it. Just keep reminding people, Barzagg. You're doin' a good job as it is, keeping us on our toes.

Incidently, I didn't put this in my first post, but I saw TAE, and liked the animation and cool factor of it. It would, indeed, make a mighty fine TC. Mantaray is much pleased.

I just searched the EVO add-ons page and couldn't find it. Would you happen to know where I might be able to download the Stargate plug for EVO?

Dammit , I hate getting corrected. You're right, I admit. I guess the 'local spellchecker' needs to take another look at the dictionary
