    • [EVN] Somethings wrong with my Shan


      I am messing around with and learning Resedit. Right now im just making quick cheat plugins but today i ran into a problem.

      I was going to make another Kestrel with improved weapons and cargo space etc. without replacing the original, so i made my brand new ship resource and just copied the original Kestrel's data and changed what i wanted and made the RID #411, which doesn't interfere with any current ships. Then i copied the target and buy ship pictures of the Kestrel and modified their RID's to match the new kestrel. Then i made a dude a put that ship in and made it appear at earth. Sure enough it appeared, but it had the Shan of a shuttle and the target pict was a cargo drone... I looked through both the Shan and ship resources and the Nova Bible looking for how to link a Shan to a certain ship but i didn't find it.

      If anybody understands my question and has an answer please post here...

      (p.s- how do you make the special letters that go in Sh(i)p and Sh(a)n?)

      actually i don't.. in my ship resource it shows me the two pictures i want up in the right hand corner. But in the game it shows me the cargo drone target pict.

      my bigger problem is the shan. It shows a shuttle instead of the intended Kestrel. So actually my question should be. How do you link a shan graphic to a ship resource?

    • First things first. To get the umlaut, type option-u before you type the vowel you want the umlaut over.

      Secondly (and more important), Nova automatically links shäns with shďps based on their resource numbers. Copy the shän for the original Kestral and give it the same resource number as your shďp.

      The target picture needs to be a PICT resource with a resource number of
      3000 + shipID - 128. Once you've copied the shän, theoretically, the engine is smart enough to reference the correct targeting PICT.

      ok thanks alot.. i was looking through the Data files and I didn't see multiple shäns for each upgraded version of each ship (i.e. 12 abomination shäns)..

      p.s. the umlauts work.. yeah..
