One of my friends showed me a site with free file hosting up to 50 MB, but I forgot the site and the friend is in Ohio. I need file hosting! Anybody know of a good free server?

      Thanks in advance,
      Divals

    • Has anyone else heard that they are shutting down iTools? that sucks. Now it is like 100 $ a year, with no free service! Of course for the next 75 days you are allowed to try it for free, but it shuts down after that.

    • I just found (url="http://"http://free.prohosting.com/")this(/url) site which offers 50 megs, cgi/ssi scripting, email, and FTP. I read the terms of use, and it contains no limit on file size, bandwidth, maximum files, or file type restriction. (Media: .mov, .rm, .mpg, .mp3, .wav, or binaries: .sit, .zip, etc.) I'm signing up now to replace my apple site, I'll have to see how fast the upload/download speeds are.

You could also try (url="http://"http://www.50megs.com/")http://www.50megs.com/(/url) . I used that site for a while myself, 256 K file size limit.

I used this for a while. It's pretty good as long as you don't have frames, and it has room to expand.

Yeah, I use Free Prohosting. It's been pretty good; I like the features, especially CGI since I dabble with a that a little bit.

As far as speeds go, my Internet connection isn't fast enough for that to matter to me. I've had some reliability issues only recently, so there is a potential problem there, but otherwise it's been good for as long as I've been using it. The tech support was decent and everything. They do put a banner on your site, but at least you have the choice of a frame or a popup.

Another site I've used is (url="http://"http://www.redrival.com")www.redrival.com(/url) -- they give you 20 megs but no FTP (rather annoying to use those clumsy web interfaces). However, RedRival has the best tech support I've ever seen -- I once asked about how their Form to E-mail script worked, and in a few days they just implemented one. I was rather surprised at that.

Well, just shop around; you're bound to find something decent. If you have money, maybe you'll find something good.
