    • Creating NOVA mďsn: please help!

      Hi!

You may have noticed that I am beginning developement of a plug (NOVA) that adds one new gövt to the north of Federation space. For the basic idea, check the topic I started on the "Hegemony of Aurelia" (you may note that the name is tentative and ever-shifting).

      Anyway, my problem:
I am trying to make a mission that the reward is access to the Afron Hypergate Network. I have set up working Hypergates under a new gövt and created a rank that, like the 'have access to hypergates' rank lets you land on all planets of that gövt. I made the mission a simple cargo run offered through the BBS of any gövt 195 (afron) planet and with a pickup/dropoff at specific spöbs. I have the OnSuccess bit set to the new ränk.

BUT I can't get the mission to show up. I tried looking in every BBS on every Afron planet and it simply says 'no missions available here'. What give?

      Thanks,
      Virgil

    • try the following:

•check the AvailBits (test) field, to see if the mission is always available. Make sure you type !b424 just to be sure
•make sure the avail. ship type is set to -1
•make sure the avail. location is exactly correct (spöb ID and mission BBS, or spaceport bar)
•Make sure avail.random is not on 0, make it 100 to make sure the mission exists, and then change it to the desired % (chances of getting the mission)
•for now, leave the avail.record and avail. Rating on 0, to make sure there are no other problems with the mission. After the mission has been tested, you can change the AvailBits, the Avail. random, rating, and record to your convenience.

If you want, I can take a look at it. I understand if you don't want to give away any of the plug. The mďsn, ränk, and Hypergate gövt resource should be fine.

    • I checked all of your suggestions, Saaci, and they are all correct. The AvailBit is set to !424, the spöb RID's all show the names of the spöbs I want, the avail. random is at 100, the ship type at -1. Could it be something to do with the dëscs?

Q.T. (no pun intended)-I appreciate the offer, but (seeing as, if I'm actually going to make the plug) I should and would like to figure this out on my own with the help of the board (unless you want to help me write all the missions!). Thanks anyway.

Don't worry, I was made aware of that interpretation of my SN by a friend, he has yet to stop reminding me of it. I wasn't suggesting that I write the missions, but it helps to look at the finished product, so you can see how things interrelate. As one suggestion that I didn't see mentioned, check and see if the checkbox "Don't offer if no cargo space" is checked, if it is, make sure that the ship you're testing in has enough space. Even if the cargo is to be picked up later, with that box checked Nova won't offer the mission unless you have the cargo space. Also check and make sure that "No mission for cargo ships" and "No mission for warships" are unchecked. It's not something with dëscs, the mission will appear regardless of those. Other than that, good luck.
