    • Sprites for EVN Using Strata3DBase

I have never played Nova, but I am working with people on a plug for it. I know that this has been posted like 5 billion times, but my situation is somewhat unique, having no idea what ships look like in the game to take even a guess. Here are my questions:

      1. What angle are the sprites, I know they are 10 degrees rotation, but I have also hear they are 3/4 somehow
      2. What are the things I'm hearing about "engine flares" and "running lights"?
      3. Can someone provide me with a step-by-step way to render a sprite for this?
      4. Maybe if you can provide me with pictures of each graphic I'd need to make, it could help me, feel free to post them, or email them to me.

      Thanks a lot!

    • Come on man, if I were you I would completely abandon hope of making EVN plugins/graphics if you've never played EVN. It's just common sense. 😛

    • Well, I guess I'll have to wait until Nova ports to Windows then.

Or you could try an emulator like Basilisk II.

    • Only problem with B2 is that I don't have OS 8.1 :frown:

    • actually, someone got it to run (somehow) in B2. Go do a search for emulation. You'll need a REALLY powerful computer to make it work effectivly though. Probably somewhere around 500+ ram, and at least a 1.4 gHz P4 or equivalent (or, if you can get it, something faster). Your best bet though, would be to goto some mac store and buy a kinda old mac. They'll probably have one for about $4-800 US, depending on how old it is, and it'll run EVN WAY better than any emulator ever will.(I only offer the price because a friend of mine works in a mac store, and he quote me prices all the time to see if I want a better mac than th ol'junker in my basement.)

    • Try looking on (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evn/")this page(/url), which has a number of screenshots and may help you to determine the correct angle. Also, how exactly do you plan to make a plug-in with a Windows PC?

spacecowboy and I are doing all the coding, writing, and in-game testing. BariSaxGuy5 is rendering the graphics and sending them to us via email.

    • Making a plugin with a PC is easy, I have done alot of work in B2 when I was not at ma mac. Anyway, nova under B2 runs on a madrange PC 1.4 ghz, 256mb. What you need to do is get B2 up and running, and use resedit to look at the resources, game testing is irrelevant for ships, as you can view the finished product in Novatools.
