    • Comprehensive Sci-Fi universes....

Is there anywhere people can read and review universes people have created in their free time? Or that are well established?

The Frozen Heart sparked this idea. It would be cool to have a board devoted to them, because people would be able to take ideas and use them for planet and bar descriptions, and to make a universe that was vast and varied, something a lot of plug-ins miss.

      Thanks for any suggestions.

    • Yes there is, sci-fi book forums.

Anyway, plug-in universes are the respective property of their original creators, and I would not want someone adding to something I've created without my permission.

I doubt the board idea would work for a number of reasons:

      1. people would argue, each wanting their own interpretation of the story
      2. someone would have to copy down everything that was created
      3. they would all have to be bound together to avoid inconsistencies and such

In short, I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea, just not practical for a webboard.

Absolutely. Does, however, make for a fun topic for discussion when it comes around; "What interesting universes are out there in the world of fiction and film, and could they be adapted to EV?" For that - freewheeling discussion and debate -- this board is well-suited.

Why wouldn't it be practical? Whoever posts ideas on the board should be notified ahead of time that their ideas may be taken by others to include in 3rd party plug-ins, in whole or parts. This could eliminate people claiming others "stealing" their precious ideas. There are many people out there, myself included, who have ideas for storylines but are either too lazy or don't have the skills to make an actual plug-in. Some of us don't care who actually make the plug-in as long as we eventually get to actually play our ideas. Also, there are people who are extremely good with programming, graphics designing but have a difficult time coming up with a story. I believe such a board can help both sides as long as certain rules are stated before anything occurs.

Are you refering to people posting storylines for anyone who wants to make a plug-in out of them? If so, you've missed the point. That happens on this board, and as far as I know, works fine. I was refering to internet communities attempting to create storylines, (Herran Havok's post).

    • Yeah, this board works fine for that sort of stuff.

    • Make a topic here specifically for posting universe ideas. Or make your own webboard, I suppose...
