    • Even with the new build, I am having a few problems.

      1. The Clear Universe command doesn't seem to work

      2. There does not seem to be a way to delete systems

      3. I cannot move the system via dragging, though I can scroll now.

      4. Edit Name does not seem to work

      5. I cannot figure out exactly how to link systems. By selecting a system and hitting the edit links button, nothing happens. Clicking stuff doesn't work, either.

There is no Clear universe command yet or deleting. Though they are coming.

If a system has an ID of less than 128 dragging won't work.(fixed in next release)

Go to the third tab and enter something new into the name field. that will be the new name.(although you can't see it until you force a redraw, which I will fix)

You have to hit edit links and then click on two systems. A link will be created if it doesn't exist yet or will be deleted if a link already does. In the next release the cursor will change to reflect that you are linking/unlinking systems.

When do you think we might see another build posted for download?

Lately I haven’t had time to work on it much during the week as I have been getting home late. You can probably expect an Update once-twice a week but I can't guarantee that.

    • Oh, the governments thing does work, I was wrong. Slight request though - could lists (like the gövts and the s˙sts) be sorted by ID, rather than by, it seems, creation date?

    • I think this thread needs to be bumped

    • Any idea when we are going to be seeing an update?

    • I'm kinda (really really ticked off   is more like it)... I just downloaded NovaMap A1, and I opened up a plug-in I'm creating. I changed the position of one of my systems by like a teensy bit, then saved and closed. I then opened it up (or tried to ) in ResEdit... it gave me an error message, #190. Same with resourcer. When I tried to open it seconds ago in NovaMap, it gives me an error message. I'm really really ticked off  because I forgot to back it up before I opened it with NovaMap. Now I just lost two weeks of work. Is there a way to delete a section of your resource file (i.e. the s˙st resource) without deleting the rest, without opening it in any Res* program??? I need help! 😕!

    • Shadow: While I cannot help much, I feel bad for you. Something similar happened with EV Dev map and me, but I only lost a day's work. You may want to download the newest nova map and use filetyper to check to see that your creator codes and stuff are right.

A few comments on NovaMap after having worked on it for a while:

      1. Systems, in the list, continue to be called "New System" even after you have named them until you restart the app

      2. When you make a new system, it drags the currently selected system to wherever you place the new one.

      3. The ID# field does not seem to work

      4. It would be nice if it did redraw constantly instead of whenever you scrolled or zoomed, but this has been stated before.

      5. It would be nice if the app was a droplet; ie you could drag a plug-in onto the application's icon in the finder and it automatically opens the app and the plug.

Though it is still going through its growing pains, this program seems very promising. I hope you develope it to its full potential.

I'm Sorry, I really should have warned a little more that this was very new and not very tested software(backup, use at own risk, and what not)

Could you send me your corrupted plug so I can try to figure out what happend.

1: That will be fixed in next release
2: It’s due to some old and very evil code. Fixed in next release.
3: That one is complicated. I will have to add a button to confirm such a change as it will modify part if the way NovaMap recognizes resources. So it’s not enabled yet.
      4:Fixed in next release
      5: Probably will happen

Expect the next release this weekend but I’m working on many fixes and features EG; Undo, Delete, and all listed above.

    • I recently used NovaMap to layout all the systems in my upcoming plug-in, Galactic Alliance. Thanks, as I would still be toiling in the drudgery of xpos and ypos numbers if not for novamap. I can't wait to see the next update.

how big is your plug? you may have to upload it to an iDisk or something if it is above a meg or so. I'll clear out my mail box anyway or use AIM to send it to me

    • Oh yes, I think I should mention - even it its alpha state NovaMap is already usable enough that I, like ares1, was able to use it to create the galactic map for my plugin. So, thank you for saving me so much time....

    • Is it possible for you to make a feature that will let you see trade routes? I don't know what I'm talking about exactly, but setting up trade routes is sort of complicated, and making sure you don't make extremely lucrative trade routes is also sort of complicated. Any chance you will make it able to point out where you can go low-->high in one jump or less?

That would be very hard to implement. If it did happen, it would happen after I got Spob editing as that is directly related the spobs in the system, which is currently ignored.

Also we were able to determine what killed Shadow's plug.

    • Are you still expecting a new release this weekend (which would be today)? And how long do you think until we can edit spobs?

Well, I posted a new version of just bug fixes. This week I've been bogged so you'll have to wait a little longer for the big features. After all, AP tests are approaching and that means more studying than you can shake a stick at.

    • First, I'll chime in with a hearty "Thank-you Thorprime" as I have used NovaMap to lay out my galactic map already- that saved hours of work.

But on a darker note, all of a sudden NovaMap is running slower than molasses in January, making touch ups a pain. Maybe my universe finally got large enough to cause trouble. Then again, maybe I just need to reboot OSX.

Thorprime, would a "galactic shift" command be out of the question? A way to move all the systs some offset? After building my universe, I realized it was very top-heavy, and moving it all down would make me feel better.
