This is a public service announcement(heh).

There is an issue with Pillars of Garendall in the way it handles global variables. Namely, it fails to initialize them when a saved game is reloaded. Thus, it is possible to do a task in a game, reload a previously saved game, and have PoG "think" that this task has already been completed(even though it hasn't).

The "fix" for this is to make sure that you completely quit out of PoG before loading a saved game. Ie, if you start adventuring and then get killed, or decide to revert back to a previous saved game, or to even switch to a completely new character, make sure that you first quit the PoG application and restart it. Otherwise odd things may happen to your character due to globals being active on your character that shouldn't be.

Hopefully in a future update of PoG this will be corrected.
