C4D allows for amazing amounts of layering and boolean operations. None of it has to be solved but can be set up like vector graphics. Go down the chain and change something and it is all morphed and booleaned like it should. Plus HyperNurbs and Poly reduction tools can be great things.

You can only set the amount in Layout. It's at the bottom of the surface editor, and it must be checked before an amount can be set.

    • I am a Lightwave user since 5.6 and I must say that it is hands down better than C4D. It is easier to use, more logicaly set up, less cluttered, faster, ad all around better, plus i like the dual program interface. much more efficient. I even perfer it to maya 4 Unlimited in some areas, and that is a fine (and expensive, $16k) peice of software. In its price range, Lightwave is the best, compleetly eclipsing 3DS Max and C4D, though i will give C4D this, it has a great radiosity engine, my friend gets some great results out of it (I haven't tried it personaly however).

    • Demo for which?

Lightwave demo must be ordered from Newtek - it's free, but it's on a CD since it's quite large.

C4D demo is available at the site. (www.maxon.net)

    • Actually you can download the LW updater, and it will work as a demo installer unless you have and older but full version of LW with the dongle.
