    • Mecanisto spin'n Madness

Ok, I use Mechanisto for my graphical needs. Sometimes when I go to make the series of 36 shots needed to make the sprite, the ship spins out of control, and seams to spin from the front of the ship instead of the middle. This makes the ship spin out of the area given to it, which messes up the sprite and the mask, etc. Sometimes I can tinker with Mechanisto until the ship spins inside of the given area, but it still rotates at the front of the ship. Does anyone know a way to fix this, if there is a way? Thanks.

    • I screwed up. Read below.

    • From what you described, the model is off axis. What to do is make sure that the center of the ship is centered on the image field. Because your saying that it is spinning from the front, you will have to move the entire model foward until it does not do it any more.

    • Oh, oh, I get it. You need to move your ship forward so it is centered at 0,0,0.

    • Mechanisto is funny about how it handles tapers, spins and other movement. It is all based on the central point to all three axises (0,0,0). Not doing so will cause weird wacked out artifacts of the model, and it won't render/model right.

    • Hmmmmm. Thanks for the help, but it still spins funny. I always have the model centered at 0,0,0 and it still spins all weird. Are you guys saying to move the middle piece which is usually the center of the model to 0,0,0 or the whole model? Thanks again.

    • Here's what to do. If your ship is in a group, center it. If not, put it in a group and do so. Then make a new group and put the ship group into the new group. The spin transformation should be with the new group, not the ship group. The reason it does this is because you have a translation in the ship group that isn't 0, 0, 0, even though it is centered in your view. Making a new group makes it centered and translated at 0, 0, 0.

    • Thanks a lot. All of your posts have helped considerably with the spin'n madness. Thanks again...

    • It shouldn't matter where the ship is, as long as it's one group. Just make sure the Rotate transform is right below the Scale transform.
