    • Slight Strata Problem

This feels strange, posting about a problem with Strata 😛

It isnt a modelling problem (well it is but not the bad kind). The problem is that in making my spacepost bar pic, I have put in so much detail that Strata doesnt have enough memory to render. I have allocated it 256 Mb of RAM and it still doesnt budge. I was quite excited as the modeling for the bar is almost complete now, and it is looking really good (at least in preview mode).

So here is a small request. Does anyone out there have a computer faster than a 400MHz iMac and more than 320 Mb of RAM and have Strata 3D 3.0.2 (got to be that version or better - ie not previous versions or 3.5 base). I have a feeling it will have to be way faster and a lot more RAM as there is a huge amount of detail in it. The last time I posred a pic of the bar (in the topic below) it had 529 objects, 7 light sources, 124 spline patches, and 120558 polygons. Now you can multimply each of those figures by about a factor of 4, possibly even 5 or 6 insome cases.

Thanks a lot in advance (hopeingly-sp?)

    • You sure that's a memory problem? I mean I use Cinema4D and I can render scenes with a lot more polygons and objects easily with my 320 megs G3
Apologies for the useless post. 🙂

    • This could be caused by many problems, maybe not even memory. Firstly, do you have VM turned on (Pre-X)? If not, turn it on. Mac memory management is vastly improoved by having VM on.

Other things to check are system extenstions and control panels, take out all the ones you dont need and try again.
