This stupid thing is making me mad! I'm starting to give up on this darned plug-in! Someone, please help me. I need someone to go through my three files to see what the problem is. I have checked Plug-Checker, but what it says is wrong... at least I think.

Making a TC is waaaay to much that I can handle, so can anyone join in helping me?

If no one can join, I will have to quit making it.

What, exactly, is your problem? And what do you mean making a TC is much more than one inexperienced person can handle? What ever gave you that idea? I would join you, but I am currently making the graphics for my upcoming plugin. Sorry...

But, truely, this bites! I don't know what my problem is. That's why I need some helping finding it! I just can't start the game, cuz it says I need to raise the memory `n crap like that. (I can say crap can't I?)

Then raise the memory. If you get to about 100 megs of memory then something is wrong with your plug. Send it to an experienced plug-maker and get their help. Sheesh, you can't do an entire TC by yourself.

Okay ares1 and spl_cadet, I'm making a Plug... my memory is at 18000... when you make a plug and your memory is that high, then that means that there's something wrong with that person's plug.

If you don't have any good advice, then don't advise. I mean, sheesh, don't advise someone to raise the memory when that's the obvious thing to do... unless they don't say anything about the memory. You should know I'm more experienced than that.

I dunno if this will work, but I heard somewhere that EV runs at a certain amount of memory . . . i.e., if you give it too much, it won't work, and if you give it too little, it won't work.

I had a problem like this before. I think I fixed it by splitting my plug-in into two seperate files (I had two plug-ins that, when put together in the plug-ins folder, made one). After that I think it started to work again (I am not sure whether I fixed it or not). I think the problem has to do with the limitations on the number of ships, weapons, outfits etc. I am not entirely sure though. This problem harassed me nearly to the point quitting too.
I either fixed it like up above, or the plug became corrupted (or something like that) and I had to pick up from a previous backup copy. I can't remember because it was so long ago...
Either way, it's probably not the news you want to hear, is it?
Of course I may be wrong...

You're right. And nine times out of ten that problem is a Spin problem. Check through all of your Spins to make sure that you don't have one or more of them pointing to a non-existant graphic.

That should fix the problem. But FWIW, 18 megs isn't really all that much to allot to EV:O. I regularly play with mine set at 35mb.

Well you aren't helping anyone help you very much. If you're having a technical problem and you're asking for help on a forum, the obvious thing to do is give your machine and OS specs, what game engine you're using etc, and especially what is actually going wrong. Is the game crashing? Are the graphics not appearing? You don't tell us any of the symptoms of the problem you're experiencing, yet you expect us to fix everything up. Would you call a doctor over the phone and simply say "I'm sick" ? You'd just get a fee for 100 dollars in the post and a recommendation to see a psychologist.

Jon Potter is right - check all the spins for incorrect numbers and it will probably solve the problem if you find a mistake. Also, delete any PICT resources that aren't referred to in spîns or other resources - that sometimes causes memory problems.

Try raising the memory to perhaps 25MB - then you can be absolutely sure it isnt a memory problem. although 18megs should be ok for EV.

18 megs? I have had memory problems around 30-40... I suggest jacking it way, way up, about 40 mb less than the amount of RAM you have so that Finder can still run.

Wait, how much RAM do you have, exactly? Like SD said, you aren't giving us nearly enough information to help you.

Oh, and I think you should turn off VM. Also try zapping PRAM and rebuilding desktop.
