    • ResEdit Tools, and More 3D Fun

I was thinking of working on some custom ResEdit super-templates. Have you seen these? R&R; made a couple right before ShipWrite and Mission Control. So, my question: does anyone want these, besides me? They're generally bug-free, and have a much better interface than standard ResEdit templates, and yes, they fit right over the ResEdit interface. Yes? No? Maybe? Don't care? Whatever? Bug off? Okay! 😉

On a totally unrelated note ( :)), I've uploaded 3 more ships to my directory ( (url="http://"http://www.pacificnet.net/~restorer/3d/")http://www.pacificne...t/~restorer/3d/(/url) ), so tell me what you think. I'll probably set up a real web page within the week to automatically catalog them for me. If you want me to help with your plugin, for graphics or programming, just e-mail me, I'm ready to help.

These "super-templates," or as they are more accurately described, "editors" are apparently the primary component of R&R;'s upcoming editors for EV Nova. Incidentally, as they require actual programming to create them, their level of bug-freeness and the quality of the interface depend entirely on the skill of the developer.

    • /me agrees with David. Someone who has great (or maybe even adequete) expirience could do this, but someone who's "just starting out" could not. There wouldn't be a lot of plugs out if people had to write in actual code for all their programing. People just wouldn't take the time.

On another note, these editors (ShipWrite (sp) and Mission Control) you speak of, are they used for EVO, EV, or both? If their is a ship editing device for EV it would certainly assist me. I may even have MM released by sometime this Melenia. 😉

You misunderstand what David meant. These "editors" are programmed by their creator in C/C++ or whatever language. They are compiled and uploaded to the internet. The user who wants to create a plugin then downloads them and sticks them in their ResEdit application. It creates an editor interface, with checkboxes and radio buttons and all that good stuff. The end-user never sees the actual code used to make the editor, and never deals with any programming code to create the plugin. I agree with David, though, that the bug-freeness does depend on the skill of the programmer (of the editors).

    • Yeah, I think we're saying about the same thing... You talk about bugs/proggraming ability, I talk about actually doing it/programming ability.

    • This is off the subject, but i'm trying for help anywhere i can get it. Can someone please post a good mission editor for EVO? I can't find one anywhere on the addons page. It would be helpful for a plugin i'm working on which will probably never be finished (sigh...another useless scenario that will never be released) :frown: , and my pilot file has had some mission trouble...

I always knew there was reason that stuff was illegal. I found out what that reason was last night.

There's one called Mission Control on R&R;'s page, but I forget the link. Look thru some fairly old posts, there are links there I think. Or better yet, go to the Links section of EVO and the link will be there.

      Mmm... Stir-fry...

Mission Control was taken down because it was buggy and R&R; was too busy working on the Nova editors to fix it right now. If you're interested in an EV Override mission editor, however, I don't think there are any right now, but there soon will be. Check my signature for more information...

    • Sigh. Too bad Mission Control was taken down. Oh well. Thanks for the help Restorer and David, and i'll be looking forward to seeing your mission editor when it comes out, David. I could definitely use it!
