    • "Invalid rectangle" error with templates.

      Can someone tell me why I get the error message "Invalid Rectangle.....etc..." When editing some of my EVO resources? Does this error have any hidden adverse effects on the game?

      Ignore it, it doesn't do anything (as far as I know; I've always just said "OK" and its been just fine).

      It does get a little anoying after awhile. I'd really be interested to know if there was a way to disable it.

      It's because EV uses the RECT resource type for those 4 number types. In the RECT (normally used to define fixed rectangles for interfaces and such) resource the numbers are top,left,bottom,right iirc, so the top and left should be higher and further left than the bottom and right.

      In EV this doesnt matter, so just ignore it and click OK.

      blackhole's doubtless right (with the possible exception of the relative order of the x and y coordinates). if you want, you can make your own templates using four dwords instead of one rect, but most of us (read "i") have grown accustomed enough to the four boxes in a row that breaking them up into four lines each would feel unnatural, whereas hitting enter the correct number of times (once you get to know your resources) immediately after closing the window is a fairly standard reflex

      GAAA! Your getting that error!!?? Quick, burn you computer- it is your only hope! You don't want to know what will happen if you ignore it... its bad.

      OK. Ignore me. Just trying to have a little fun.

      Note: there are somethings you can do to prevent them. For example, when possitioning sytems, if you do alot at the same time, it is best to set all the dude field to 128 with 25 prob. and everything except connect syst and the cordinates to -1 or 0. You won't have to keep hitting OK.
