    • Cannons not firing


      I'm working on a plugin called Galactic Alliance, and I'm having trouble with making cannons. I made some turrets, and then made cannon versions. The turrets work fine and the sprites and everything look great, but the cannons will not fire.

      I went thought and made the cannons I made have the same info as the laser/proton cannons from stock EV, so I know that everything should work fine. For some reason, they just don't work after you buy them.

      If you think you can help, download my plug (url="http://"http://home.cfl.rr.com/aresev/GA.sit")here(/url). The ones that do not work are the Hydrogen and Particle Cannons. Can someone tell me what is wrong?

      I am dowloading the plug to look.

      Off the top of my head, have you:

      set the outf resource to point to the weap resource?

      set the outf to be a fixed gun?

      I will look at the plug and see what i can see.

      set the flag for the weap to fire from the primary trigger?

      linked the weap to the spin resource for the sprites?

      Simple.

      The weapon ID#s are 193 and 194. EV and EVO only allow 64 weapons, minus one for the Forklift which resides at ID# 191. Available weapon ID#s are 128-190. You will need to move these weapons into some of the lower-numbered slots.

      Check your EV Bible.

      ares1, this is an EV plug, right? At least what I downloaded is in EV plug format. Well, your landing PICTs are the wrong size, they are set up for Nova format. EV/EVO landing picts are 333x271 pixels.

    • Where, in the bible, does it say what the resources go to? I looked, and I don't see it. I may just have missed it, though...

      How many outfits can you have? Mine are 128-191 with no empty spaces, and I have a ton more to add. So where do I stop for outfits?

      I'm not sure it directly says that. It does mention 64 weapons in Game Constants.

      Don't worry, you can go to 255 there. You've got 64 left. 🙂

      Just remember that outfits past 227 (i.e. index# 100) won't show up right in the outfitter dialog. So you should reserve those for the outfits that don't appear there.

      Hey, be sure to include that in the new Annotated Bible (or whatever name you use - how about "EV:O Bible, Lord Andrew Version"? 🙂 )

      Another suggestion is to include either with the game constants or (my preference) in the introduction to each resource type the valid ID# range for that resource.

      Hmm, yes, I'll do that. Good idea, Joe. In fact, I think I'll move the constants to an appendix and have that; I was concerned about just jumping into the resources without giving any idea of the limits of the game, but this will fix that.

      As for the name, I was considering "EV Bible: The New Testament" but decided that people might consider it offensive. 😉 It'll end up just being "The Annotated EV Bible" and "The Annotated Override Bible".
