    • Cool star graphics needed

I am creating a plug that puts stars in most of the systems in Nova. I am looking for anyone to sumit there best attempt at stars. 3D or 2D. Not landscapes but what you see while flying your ship.

    • Excellent. I have been doing the same with Frozen Heart 2.

I'd be interested to have a conversation about things like deadliness and gravitation.

For graphics, there is a shareware plugin for photoshop called Solar Cell, which makes stars.

I would check it out, it's awesome.

      Regards

    • Out of curiosity, are you looking for the realistic big-white-sphere-with-bright-flare type star, or the not-realistic-star-is-visible kind seen so often, even in EVN?

Example of unrealistic, plus a little rant:

A star is very bright, and any picture "taken" of one at that range would either be incredibly, blindingly, melt-your-hull-if-you-didn't-have-shields bright, or with such a low exposure it would completely blot out anything else. Any ship in an image with one like that should be black, as should any stars in the background...

That said, are you looking for bright stars or more recognizable, if less realistic, stars?

      ------------------

    • Anything that looks funky or weird. I'm doing this to put a little snaz into the already good EVN. Heck I might even equip the stars with planetary weapon in the shape of solar flarses that sometime erupt at the player. Just a thought. To Mr. Turner, where do get the plug for photoshop?

    • hmm...I have one, but, it it would be one hell of a big stellar....I was going to use it for my own, but I dont think it would have worked well.

    • Steps for a truely realistic star:

      • Take one faster than light spaceship and 1 camera

      • Fly to a star

      • Take a picture

Chances are that you'll get a completely white print due to the intensity. C4D does good game quality stars.
