    • 1st-person EV(you like?), and NCB's

I was originally intending to write Cold Blood from a first-person perspective, because it gives me more control as a writer. What do people think about a first-person EV?

If it's been done, I apologize for not knowing. But I'd still like to know.

Secondly, I really like the way NCB's are set up (nova control bits). I'm thinking I'm gonna have to make a plug taking advantage of those...especially the ship-switching things...like, your ship gets blown to hell on the landing pad, and thus you have to steal someone else's to get the heck out before you get killed...but then you've got two people on your tail, not just one...it could get interesting. Especially combining that plot I just mentioned with the randomness option...you could get lucky or be faced with some tough trials, all at random. Sounds like fun to me!

    • I think most plugs are done in 2nd person; it makes the player feel that he is in control of what is happening.

Ship switching, hmm have not read about that.

Silent Night, a plug-in for Nova, will feature a small, unique galaxy. With only three races, I will be able to change the galaxy to my hearts desire. To help me finish it faster, I will not be slowed down by making ship graphic- I will use the ones from Nova.

    • huh? I thought most plugs were in first person. 1st person is from your perspective (I), 2nd person is from a member of your groups perspective (we), 3rd person is from an independant observers postition (they). I cant think of many plugs where you are in 2nd or 3rd person, normally you are leading the action.

    • first person is I/we
      second person is you/you
      thrid person is he,she,it/they
      singular/plular

It seems that most plugs are writen like "Can YOU do this for us?"

    • Onyx: does it mean that you are not dropping the Cold Blood project?

    • As has been clarified, most plugs are written in the 2nd person, yes. First person might make it too much like an "interactive novel" or something, as goes for the third, and people have complained about that in the past. I think. So to heck with that, I'll just stick with something that I know will work.

It's a nice idea, though, for anyone who happens to like "interactive novels".

After some reconsideration, no, I'm not going to dump CB. For clarification, yes, I was in a poor state of mind when I made that post, but it's underlying principles were still true. Namely, I was planning on ending the project, and I wasn't going to see anyone scavenge it. The latter still holds true.

    • I personally don't think a first-person EV plug would go over too well - telling people who they are, what they do etc... Rebel Assault comes to mind... although I loved flying through the middle of that asteroid, it impressed all my friends! 😉
