    • Help with Infini-D

I guess this is the right spot to talk about this......I want to know how to get it so it looks like the engines look like they are glowing or something......I can get a point light to make it look like there is a ball that is glowing but when I render it, it doesn't show up at all. Not even any sign that a light is there. I've turned up the intensity and is on visible beam......If there is anything that somebody could do to help me I would very much appreciate it.

    • If you don't know how to do this (or what the heck I'm trying to explain) then how bout just telling me how the heck to put in a light and make it so it will render it in. Also if you could help me with the above topic then that would be helpful.

    • Well, I dont know much infini-d, but make sure the light is outside the object, that's usually a problem...

    • oh and also I can see the 'ball of light' in camera view (in phong mode) but when I render it, it is just the ship with no lighting at all besides ambient and the distant lighting.

    • select the light and click the left most of the little tabs in that window on the left (i forget what they call the window, but it's the one where you can set the textures, numerically edit an object's position and size, and all that great stuff). towards the bottom, there's a menu inside a group called "visible glow." set it to "visible beam" and change the number in the little edit box until the glow is the size you want. you can alter the beam's color and all kinds of other great stuff from there, too

p.s. if you want to make engine glows, i'd suggest using a tube light instead of a point light. this allows a beam, as opposed to a sphere, to come out of the engine, giving it a more directed look

    • Here are a couple links to tutorials where you can learn to make enjine glows. Try mixing lights with gels and particle systems.

    • Thanks you guys I finally figured it out. The problem was that for some reason the light was at 37 seconds and I was at 0 seconds. I'll be posting my image in the gallery.
      Thank ya
