    • Creating Plug-ins

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what software I need in order to create a plug-in and where I can download them. Thank you...

    • The absolute essentials are:

ResEdit or some other rescource editor.
      The EV/EVO bible
      Pics2sprites or Makespin

All these can be donloaded from here: (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/evo/addons.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...evo/addons.html(/url)

You also may want to download ShipWrite as well as the Gövteditor and Oütfeditor from: (url="http://"http://www.sutherland-studios.com.au/family/evo_software.html")http://www.sutherlan...o_software.html(/url)

In addition, you probablly could use some graphics software. Try: (url="http://"http://www.3d.com")http://www.3d.com(/url) for strata 3d, or look for mechanisto on the addons page. Both are free.

Good luck with making plugins. 😉

    • Another really good piece of software is the EVO Developer's Map found (url="http://"http://members01.chello.se/warlordpontus/ev/")here(/url).

    • For the official introduction to plugin design, read the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=29&SUBMIT;=Go")EVV Plugin Developer's FAQ(/url).

Good choices, Captain L, but you left out at least one absolute essential : Plug Checker.

Sorry, don't have the URL handy (borrowed computer) but it should be in the archive here on the Ambrosia site.

EVO Developers Map as someone wrote is very good for systems and planets.

EVO Formula Calc is very useful if you are not using one of the full-featured editors, and is still useful as a back-up.

    • Bomb was making a guide and hasn't finished, but I've lost the URL.

    • I would really appreciate anyone that gave it to me.

    • I have also found that (url="http://"http://members.fortunecity.com/shado83/")EVO God(/url) is also good, but it's not finished. And you can get an excellent mission editor at the same place as ShipWrite. It's Mission Control, and it's really good. I normally will use those and very little of EV Edit, but it's buggy.

    • What you have too understand about making plug-ins is that ResEdit is the same is EV-Edit except it doesn't look as nice and doesn't automate things like flags (the checkable options) and string and description creation, not to mention that it doesn't look nearly as nice. I found the ResEdit guide to be next to useless since it didn't convey the concept that Res-Edit is EV-Edit without the bugs and automation.

Anyway, I reccomend Flag Maker 2. You should be able to find it around, I remember getting it out of an announcement topic that someone posted or something. Flag Maker, Formula Calc, and the EVO Bible are the utilities that I use most in conjunction with Res-Edit.

Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea." - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
