    • Does anyone need a sound operator ?!

I noticed that in most plugs, sound was horribly bad, so I just wanted to say, for anyone who's interested, i'd make sounds for you for free (indeed). Eventually I could even do music for potential movies or intro songs... Here are my overral stats:

      Power Mac G4 667 MhZ
      Professional Audio Card
      Emagic Logic Audio Platinum
      KORG, Yamaha and Roland synthetisizers
Lots of sound processors, hardware and software.

      Can do:

      -MIDI 'quality' music
      - Voice processing - I mean, you know like in the movies or video clips: robotized voices, metallic voices, etc...
      - Explosions (he, that's where I'm the best)
      - Weapon Sounds

Just send me an email and describe me a sound you would like to hear, I'll make it and give it to you (free of rights, you can use it how you want, just specify pesimist_guy made it) If you,re satisfied, then why not work with me !

    • Hey, cool. I'm sure we could use you for Rift. I'll run it by MadFax7 if I catch him on AIM.

Apparently, common sense isn't so common...

    • Espeidia could use a nice intro song. Somthing like the protoss music from starcraft crossed with "duel of the fates" from SW Ep.1. Also, a few little songs for movies would be nice. What's your emal adress?

I'd like to work with you if possible. I'm a jazz musician and I compose quite a bit, but know next to nothing about the hardware behind putting music into programs and on the computer. Maybe I could learn something from ya.

    • Nobody in (url="http://"http://www.area21developers.f2s.com")Area 21(/url) is any good at sound. We could certainly use you. Joining us would not mean that you are only to work for us... You could commit yourself to any project as you see fit (ours or not)... You could have a space on our page to put your stuff, etc. Send me an email if you're interested?

    • Ack, where were you when I made the sounds for Secession? (mmm... freeware sound editor, remixing the existing EVO sounds to make something quasinew and semiplausible.) 🙂

Skilled sound people seem to be in short supply around here compared with graphic designers and programmers. Pesmo, I predict that your mailbox will soon be very full... 🙂

    • Silent Night could use intro music. What I have liked so far is the sound from the "winwin.mov" from Civ 2. If you haven't played the game, it is mostly trumpet music. If you don't mind, I might be able to send the sounds that I have made, you could make them better, and then send them back to me. Contact me if you need more work!

      (edit)

Already my, mail box is full of messages. Know that I am just one man and that I probably can't help you all. Just send me a little text concerning the work I have to do (of course you can make a quick de3scription of the overral story) but what interesses me is the sounds I'll have to do. Know a few answers to questions I got:

      1. How can I make music with my comp ??!

First, you must know that, like in the 3d business, there are many types of computer musicians. The superstar DJ's or soundtrack makers have their own studios with dozens of comps, rooms full of hardware effect processor, amp, preamp, synthsizers samplers, etc... But to start make your everyday little music you need 1) a sequencer - a program that numerizes the music you play on a controller. To start, try Myriad's Melody Assistant or Quadmation's PlayerPro. Eventually you'll want to move to Steinberg's Cubasis (a simplified Cubase) or Emagic's Logic Audio
      2) a controller. The controller is the 'instrument' you use to control the sequencer, mostly through MIDI ports. Most likely, you will want to use a synthesizer as controller....

      1. How can I edit my sounds ?

Ouach, there are many ways. First, I propose you use the Sound Sculptor Pro II shareware - 35 $ or so (actually in version 2.4.3, with Mac OS 9.1 support). With this editor, you got an oscilliator (like you have in the synthesizers), a tone generator and lots of quality effects. But also here, you can get Peak 2.5 for more professionalism and VST plug-ins support ( VST is a sound processing plug-in format) and, eventually, you can get very expensive hardware sound processing racks...
