Where can I get a good editor for these great games?

It is the overall best editor. For ships in EVO, I suggest using ShipWrite, and for missions, I suggest using Schmelta-V (which, unfortunately, isn't on the EV/O addons page).

Res Edit is the way to go. Though complex, it will get anything done once it is learned well. Grab the EV Bible while you're at it. It offers plenty of helpful facts on how to develope plugins through Res Edit.
Good luck!

Eh. What ever people tell you, ResEdit isn't that complex. Just keep the EV Bible(or if in EVO, EVO Bible) around for referenceand it's fine. However, there are some things that ResEdit isn't great for (like system editing) so use a few tools added on to it makes it good. However, it would be nice to use just one tool, which is why a few attempts are being attempted (I'm doing one, Whitefire is doing one, Nicholas Shanks, and someone else...). But for now, ResEdit with EV(EVO if EVO) devmap and (if you're doing EVO) mission control are perfect for the job.

Also, try govteditor and outfiteditor from Ralph and Roger. These improve ResEdit's interface when editing Gövt and outfit resources. Nifty little things.

True, though govteditor is kinda pointless, it's the 2nd easiest resource, IMO (after the yeaŽ rsrc).

Actually, gövt makes you put in a bunch of numbers in a bunch of fields...jünk just needs 3 numbers, which makes it the 2nd easiest IMO.
Also, govteditor is the pretier of the 2 R&R; add-ons.

True, oops also doesn't ask you to add many. And yes, govt editor is prettier than the other ones. But it's still pretty darn easy.

No, you just put a copy of the Override data or something in the Schmelta-V folder, I'm pretty sure, and it'll work.

It needs to have a file called EV Data in it. If you rename Override 1 and 2 EV Data, it might work, but I know you can't just put in the Override Data. :frown:

What tools do most plug developers use for laying-out the configuration of systems?

Yeah, these two little editors were proof of concept tests to see if it would work. I now have 24 much better editors for Nova and 4 new EVO ones (with more coming) that are improved in many ways.

Do you mean making the systems? If so, I at least use EVO developers map, for the systems.

I should have guessed. The govt is one of the easiest, the outf is also pretty easy. Thanks for coming out into the open about it

I normally find those two sources rather easy. Making or editing ships using ResEdit is extrememly simple also, as there is little if any hex code to get around. This is one of the reasons why I find it easier to edit Escape Velocity then Override...

This is gonna sound geeky, but I like editing flags. It's kinda nice IMO, though I don't like dealing with hex anywhere else.

There is another editor which a lot of people know about. EV-Edit. It's got everything you need to edit EV and EVO, the only thing it can't do is edit the tďtle resource (did I do it right?). That's not the major downside tho. The things has as many bugs in it as an anthill has ants (not to slam the author of it thoI respect him very much. I would never in my life be able to create an editor to that extent, much less any type of computer program)

There is no tďtle resource, and off the top of my head, I can't think of anything else that you might be talking about, unless you mean the STR# resources that contain the credits and intro text.
