Regardless of the legality of it, why would you want to? The editors are infinitely superior to using ResEdit templates by themselves. Furthermore, the information in the Nova Bible doesn't follow the same ordering as the fields in the resources, so your ersatz templates wouldn't work anyway.

    • I'm very surprised with the first look at the Nova Bible...You can have nearly twice the amount of items (ships, planets, outfits etc.) as in Override. This will be heaven for all the plugin developers. 🙂

Without the ~awesome~ R&R; editors, the amount of stuffing around in Resedit to get things done turns plugin creation into a nightmare believe you me... 😉

ah yes, but do we have the R & R Editors available to us? The templates would be able to get plug developers going (if a little slow), however, I didn't know that the ordering was different in the bible.

      Ah well, C'est la vié

Uh-oh. Although I'm really pumped about the R & R editor, this might be bad news for some of the developers who use ResEdit for all their plugin projects...

You won't want to use anything but the R&R; editors.

I'll take your advice, since I'm sure you of all people know about using ResEdit for Nova. 🙂

    • It's official:
Energy and Mass damage are seperate!
Does anyone want an EMP weapon?

I thought those two had always been seperate anyway. 🙂 The mass driver of EV has around 25 mass damage, while the neutron blaster has 30 energy damage. That's when I discovered the difference between the two...

By the way, what is EMP?

In EV and Override, the mass damage and energy damage fields effect each other slightly. EMP means electromagnetic pulse.

And what it does is knock out any computer system in a certain radius from the blast, but computer chips can be 'hardened' against them. Atomic bombs create large radius electromagnetic disturbances if detonated high in the atmosphere...

Chips can be hardened against EMPs?

Back to the topic, I think a cool weapon would be a stun cannon. It would use lots of ionizing and do a very small amount of energy damage. Then again, ATMOS could of already put one in...

Will the templates be released anyway for people who, although I'm sure will use the R&R; Editors for most purposes, still would want to edit one or two values in the resources directly, or just plain view them directly to check for bugs, etc.?

    • Back to the Mass Damage/Energy damage, it says in the EVO Bible that when sheilds are up, SD + 1/4MD is done, and when sheilds are down, MD + 1/4 SD is done. So even if sheild damage was 100 and mass damage was 0, it would still do 25 damage to armor.
