I am a beginner EVO developer using Ship Write. However, I am stuck on the whole sprite/mask thing. How exactly do I make them? Any relevant information would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

a 3D program, Mechanisto, Bryce, Infini-D, or Strata 3D would be good for beginners... though if you want any real power you'll need a high end program. you might want to check out getting those - Mechanisto is free, and in the EV utilities here at ASW. Strata 3D is free, at (url="http://"http://www.strata3D.com")www.strata3D.com(/url) . good luck.

A sprite is a single picture of 36 rotations of a ship. It is aranded into a 6 by 6 grid. Each indevidual image MUST be a multipul of 8 thats demensions are not either 48 or 88. If you have 36 pictures of a ship that is rotated by ten degrees to the right, a small application called MakeSpin will do the arranging for you. This information about a sprite is stored in the spin resource.
A mask is a black and white duplicate of a sprite where the white part is what will show up on the screen. Anything that is black will be invisible. MakeSpin will also do the masks for you.

Make spin works decently but requires a little coaxing to work well. If you want to get the best graphics you can you will need to do it manually in an image editor, its a little tedious aligning all the images, but its not too hard to do.
When I get some time I'll stick it on my tutorial site.

Where exacly would I find MakeSpin?

It can be found right here (this should start the download) (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/vftp/dl-redirect.pl?path=ev/utilities&file;=MakeSpin20PPC.hqx")http://www.ambrosias...keSpin20PPC.hqx(/url)
I really should learn how to make it so that I can just say "it is here" with the link attached to here. Maybe some day I'll ask how to do it.....
