Can anyone make sprites for some EV and ares plugins? For ares, I'm trying to make a series of specialized net scenarios that replace the grimly boring routine where you build up a fleet of cruisers, and fight with no real edge or order. For EV, I'm trying to make a plugin that depicts what I do with every single EV plugin once I beat it. Cheat like crazy and make it more fun than the challenge of playing.

What I want is pretty basic, and not many sprites at all. But I haven't got the right software or the knowhow to make graphics myself. I really don't care what anyone does with the sprites after making them, all credit will be given.

This really isn't the place for this type of request. Try posting this on the EV Developer's Corner and/or the Ares Engineering Dept. You might also want to clarify what you mean. There is a lot more graphics work involved in making new scenarios than simply sprites. And "making sprites" doesn't even necessarily mean the graphics themselves, it could involve something as simple as taking an existing graphic and formatting it to make an EV or Ares compatible sprite.

Anyway as far as graphics goes, you need some sort of graphics program (2D and/or 3D) and res edit and Hera (if you are doing Ares stuff). For 3D programs (the preferred method used by nearly everyone), you can use Mechanisto, which is freely avaliable at the EV plugins site, or any other commercial program, such as but not limited to: Bryce, Infini-D, Lightwave, Cinema 4D, Animation Master:Hash, Strata 3D, POV-Ray, or anything else you happen to like. The popular 2D programs are Photoshop, Painter, Graphic Converter, Canvas, Fireworks (or something).

My suggestions:

3D - Mechanisto (free) or Infini-D (sorta free, its discontinued)
2D - Photoshop LE or a demo version, Graphic Converter (to save the screengraps from Photoshop :))

Also visit the EV Image gallery and ask people, but most of us are commited to our own projects. Sorry. You can post your work and we will tell you how to get better. We promice :).
