Well, making a multiplayer version of Override would be a terribly long and difficult task, and even then, that's an understatement. 
Sure, we would all love multiplayer, but most of us have finally excepted that such a feature will never come to life.

hmm, I seriously doubt you'll have any takers, as although it is possible to have an ev-like game in multiplayer, you cannot have a true EV multiplayer, it's all in the logistics of transmitting data across the net at sufficient speed, though most of the problems have workarounds. I have actually devoted some time (about 1/2 hour) to working out how to do it. It is possible, just dont expect fast results.
As for people saying it's not possible: please dont flame in this thread, you WILL suffer

I would suggest, if you have any programming experience, that you head on over to (url="http://"http://www.alienorb.com/")Alienorb's website(/url) and "apply" to help with (url="http://"http://www.alienorb.com/celestium.html")Celestium(/url). They're developing an EV-like Online Massively Multiplayer game that, as I understand, is coming along quite well! Hope this helps! (And Good Luck on that "application!")

Oh my goodness! Is that an actual plugin you can get for Ares? That looked awesome, and the graphics looked better and more 3D then in Override. Is that an actual screenshot, or was is a picture simply put together? If it is for real, I'm going to get that plug...

Thats because their the actuall ships rendered at an angle with Infini-D 4.0 (rather then 3.0/top down view)

yeah, what did happen to helian wars?
well it went multiplayer. there were two helians flying around shooting at each other just like the 2 player version but over a network. There were a few discrepencies though as I was testing it on my ol' trusty powermac 6200 with a 28.8k modem and a recent imac on a T1 network and for some strange reason, although the syncing was excellent on both computers, the max speed on the imac was greater than that on the 6200. Don't ask me why since both their top speeds were the same.
I've still got the build somewhere, but it's really not that great to play. So now that I've figured out all the networking/sprite stuff I've begun on the semi-real thing. It's still only going to have one system but the idea is that you join a force and try to wipe out the other force. Pretty dull, but so is bolo.(and noone can tell me that bolo sucks.)
I'm probably going to change all the sprites as well so that it resembles evo not at all, so it's not going to be of much interest to you EVO'ers any more. But I'll keep you posted anyway.

I think it's kinda cool the ships are to scale...When I played Ares, I was sick of my Ishiman Cruiser being a third the size of a Cantharan carrier. The ship sizes look excellent in the ship battle screenshot...It makes me wander how big the UE Carrier is going to be. Also, do you plan on making the UE Cruiser purchasable in the Ares plugin, and will their be more races then just the UE and Voinians?

The UE Carrier isn't really that big. That's because I'm using the length field in Overrides data files to determine the sprite size. Hmmm, I just calculated how long a meter is in pixels (if the UE Fighter is 8 meters long) 1 meter = 2.25...

Skyblade - Agreed, I WANT this plugin! I don't agree on the renegade ships however, the Helian Sucks, the Krait is a joke, and the Turncoat is annoying.
