    • I want to make some icons for my plug, but I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone tell me how?

    • To make icons all you generally have to do it make a picture and then copy/paste it into the icon spot in Get Info. You can do this with GraphicConverter, AppleWorks, PhotoShop, etc. You could also use Iconographer which specializes in icons and allows you to go pixel-by-pixel a lot easier.

    • What size should the icons be(in pixels)?

    • Depends on how big you want them and what OS your using. If you use OS X you can use icons up to 128x128. Standard I think is 16x16.

      1. Make a 14x14 pic of a ship from your plug-in, save it (command/apple s)

      2. Select an EV/O plug-in and get info (command/apple i)

      3. Click on the icon in the top left corner and copy it (command/apple c)

      4. Open a graphics app and make a new canvas (32x32) and paste (command/apple v) the icon into it

      5. Copy the 14x14 ship and paste it into the center of the icon save

      6. Get the info of an EV/O plug and copy the finshed icon onto the old icon

And your icon is ready. 🙂

    • When I pasted the icon, even after only copying the part I wanted, the white backround came with it. Is there any way to fix this?

Get Res-Edit, you can change the icons that way. Inorder to actually have it show up as an icon, they all need to be of ID 16455 I believe.

    • It only came up as a icon resource, and it was hex code. Is there another way?

    • You can use the cut/paste method to create custom icons, but these aren't permanent - you can permanently remove the icons by simply using Cut from the Edit menu. To create custom icons that stay even if you try to cut them, open the file in ResEdit. Open the ic14, ic18, ICN#, ics#, ics4, and ics8 resources (each one is for a different resolution and color depth) and change the icon in each with ResEdit's built-in pixel editor. However, even after several failed attempts, it didn't work! The custom icons wouldn't even show up! I hope you have better luck than I did, because I'm pretty sure it's supposed to work. Otherwise, as forge said, use Iconographer.

To solve the white space problem, look, while in the pixel editor, at the icon at the bottom called Mask. The black areas tell the Finder which parts of the icon are opaque, and conversely, the white areas denote places of where the background shows through.

    • Yes, but can I copy the pic I made into the pixel editor in Res-edit? Where can I get Icongrapher? And I DO have Res-edit and know what a mask is(this IS for a TC thats almost in beta).
