      Mr. Chronicle,

Shapeshifting is a "skill" that the Ranger class possesses that allow them to temporarily assume the shape, and thus the stats/movement/damage of that shape. Some shapes such as a spider allow the ranger to move very quickly and thus avoid confrontations. Others such as a minotaur give the ranger a hardy body with the ability to cause above average damage.

There are a preset number of shapes that the ranger can switch into, and they gain the ability to shift into the various forms by finding and digesting tomes for the specific shape they wish to shift into.

Since this is a feature for the Ranger class it should be fairly obvious that one needs the Trinity plug-in in order to utilize this ability. It is not available in the standard version of POG.

    • thank you for the reply...it was most helpful 🙂

but one more question on this....you say the ability to change shape is given when you digest a 'tome'...does this imbue you with that ability indefinately and you can call up that shape whenever you want for a limited time, or do you have to digest a tome everytime you wish to use that shape?

      Mr. Chronicle,

Ranger "skills" are just like conjuror "spells" in that once you learn them you have that information indefinitely. For Rangers this is done actually by creating potions that will allow you to shapeshift into the specific npc. So you get a tome and read it to learn the recipe to make a potion to transform you into a certain npc. You then have that knowledge, and always will. Then you need to go and find the ingredients and when you have those you can mix up the potion. When you have the potion all you need to do is quaff it and you will be changed for a duration.

      Make sense?

    • Remember to back up your game though, there have been situations where the player gets stuck as a beast and won't change back into the ranger.

      Most definitely.

I've only heard of these situations cropping up when a person saves their game while a beast and then has to revert back to that save(either due to quitting, the game crashing, etc). Are there any other ways to get stuck in a beast?

After re-reading this post I came to the conclusion that the above question is just too open ended and suggestive. Hooo boy. What I meant was "Are there any other ways to become trapped in the shapeshifted form?"

(edit) Edited to include the above aside (/edit)

    • se potions, can I just carry the potions themselves in my inventory for as long as I'd like? Or must I only carry the ingredients and just make the potion when I need it?

Also, how long do you tend to stay in another shape? (provided of course you don't get stuck in it ;))

(edit) one more question! I promise this is the last.....on shapeshifting :D...how many and what animals can you shape shift into altogether?

      Mr. Chronicle,

You can carry either the ingredients, the potions you have made, or both. The potions do not have a born-on date, nor an expiration date. They do not go bad, mildew, or change flavor. They last indefinitely until broken down by the acids within the inner stomach of the hero.

Long enough. I believe each of the shapes has its own set duration, but they may all be the same. I've never timed it. Of course faster computers where everything is sped up will probably have a shorter real time duration than a slower machine, so a real world time is probably unreliable.

Off the top of my head: molespider and minotaur. I believe there is a third, but I don't recall it.

(edit) Added humor. Probably failed. (/edit)
