Back in the day, there was Mechanisto to work on ships for ev with... but unfortunately I heard many a time that it was no longer supported and that there was no where to get a working version of it nowadays.
Seeing as I don't have piles of money lying around with which to buy Infini-D or Ray Dream Studio, are there any Freeware/Shareware editors that people are using?

I use MakeSpin alot while trying to render simple ship graphics. I am capable of using Bryce to do some landscape PICs but I haven't used it in any plug-ins yet. Canvas is pretty good, and AppleWorks is really good for really simple PICTs.

Strata is what I use. It's free and makes extremely good sprites if you know what you're doing. It's a bit complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can do amazing things with it.
