    • Help with an Upcoming Plug...


      I'm having trouble with govt/dude resources for my upcoming plug(Tons of new ships in it btw). Okay, here goes, I have made some governments for the plug along with some dudes, but when i test the plug-in out, the little government section on the target display says 'Azdara' or 'Crescent'. Also, one of the governments ships are disabled as they hyper in and when i try to destroy them by bullets pass through.

      Please Help!

    • I sense that you are new to making plugs. If so, I suggest you read the EVO Bible until you have it memorized and then try your hand at making a small plug before you start on a huge@$$ expansion or TC.

    • I'm working on a TC right now and I only had experience from two minor EV plugs i made two and a half years ago. I'm hanging in there and it's going great, but believe me: I have regretted jumping in the pool at once.
      Do what the man says. Start with a plug which just adds a few ships and a few outfits to the game, then make one which adds a dozen planets, a government and a couple dozen missions. Once you've done that you can start on your TC - it will actually save you time!

      There is somthing to be said for learning as you go. Like me. My plugin, "Espeidia" has taught me a lot about plug making, and I also feel like I'm getting better as I make the plug. Of corse this results in a lot of going back and changing things, but it's satisfying to see somthing you thought was crummy made cool.

    • it sounds like your govt flags are wrong.

      make sure the following aren't set:
      1. ships start out disabled
      2. the escorts flag, i dont know what it is called, its in the bible.

      I have checked this before and everything seems to be right. but have you ever seen a ship that hypers into a system and then disables itself but it says on screen that it has 100% shields?, cos thats what happens...

    • Didn't this happen in Femme Fatale? It was in the system with Dark Station, and i think it was done on purpose.

      Ask Martin Turner if he doesn't reply to this.

    • Well, it might have been, but I think it's cool. It fits the system with ships mysteriously being disabled on entry...

    • This takes us back to the dark days before EVO 1.0.2.

      In EVO 1.0.1, the 'ships start disabled' flag didn't work. I passed this on to Matt via David Dunham, who said he would fix it. In EVO 1.0.2, along with many, many extremely cool features, it does work, which means that the ships should no longer by disabled with full shields. I'm fairly sure that I've checked this and it's fine — if not I must have dreamt it.

      It sounds like you were playing on 1.0.1.

      As for forbidden planets, you may also have a problem if you've offended an ally of the govt.

      I was playing on version 1.0.2 and i'm sure i've had the same problem before when i was trying to develop Asteroid Cruisers called Roks, they just stood still in the system and did nothing, but that was a long time ago and now i've fixed the current problem but i still don't know what went wrong.
      I just ditched the Dudes then rewrote them identical to what they were before
      and everything worked fine. Weird 🙂
