Hay does anyone know where I can get a free or cheap program thats resnobly easy to use(for a 14 year old) and to make some ship graphics? I have tons of spare time and I have made a few of my on plugs but I never have my own graphics so I though it was time to make some of my own.

Strata 3D is a reasonably good program for making ships and outfits, and it's free! You can download it at (url="http://"http://www.strata.com")www.strata.com(/url) . Just click on the "Strata 3D" link in the sidebar. Watch out, though, there is a catch. In order to use Strata 3D, you'll have to set up an account at 3d.com, but don't worry, it's still free.

As for other modeling programs, I don't know any inexpensive ones. If you're willing to spend some bucks, however, look into Strata 3D Pro, Infini-D, and Photoshop.

I'm using Strata3D for rendering graphics and I can't seem to make any nice looking ships. Does anyone have some artwork (preferably of ships and or outfits) made in Strata3D that I could view? Also if anyone knows a bit about Strata3D I have some questions about it...

I made 2 diffrent shperes and used the fog texture and made the smaller one less transparent then the outer one.

But actually it's not that easy: it took me a fair long time before I had a ship that I was willing to let anyone see! The problem is there's alot of stuff in Mechanisto that just isn't self-explanatory, and reading the manual doesn't really at help at first; it just makes your eyes glaze over (at least it did mine). You have to fool around with the program for a while before you can even tell what he's talking about in the manual, and then it's helpful.

The key is just to keep making ships, while maintaining a good balance in your designs between what you'd ideally like your ship to look like and what you know you can do. Then with each new ship you can work on a new element, until you're able to make whatever you want (a stage that I haven't quite reached... yet!).

Yeah, it is the same for all 3D rendering programs. Or at least in my opinion. I started out on Strata3D making reall crappy ships and now I'm slowly learning new techniques and stuff. Pretty fun...

Nice work StarKnight. The ships need a little more detail though. As for that battle scence, that is awsome!! Although I don't want to waste my money on Bryce. I'll think about posting some of my test images...
