    • Hey! I don't think anyone's bothered about the number of posts... just incredulous, that's all.

Talos... I wouldn't mind seing those files... so if you want to stuff them, and attatch them to an email bound for (url="http://"mailto:grybs@grybs.com")mailto:grybs@grybs.com(/url)grybs@grybs.com

    • C'est fini! C'est fini!
      It's done! It's done!

I finished commenting, colorizing, buttonizing, grammar-checking, and spell checking! It's in correct DOCMaker format, and now I just need to find a way to let Jake read it. Grybs, your help would be much appreciated.

    • That's actually pretty impressive...

Well, you've got it all there. Now you just have to get Scott to read it and approve it. Sorry, but I can't help with that...

Why not stuff it, upload it to your website (I'm assuming you've got one somewhere - even a Tripod site) and put a link to it here? He can download it then...

Thanks. I made a few more corrections, most notably changing the green at the top of the last page to the correct color of cyan. (That was a leftover from a previous color scheme) Unfortunately, I have no sites up -- I have three sites registered (and I am not in the racket of selling them): (url="http://"http://www.johnkrauss.com")www.johnkrauss.com(/url) , .org, and .net. I'm going to get rid of (url="http://"http://www.johnkrauss.net")www.johnkrauss.net(/url) and register (url="http://"http://www.bacchusshareware.com")www.bacchusshareware.com(/url) , the name of my "company". The problem with Scott is deeper than being unable to download it -- let him tell you.
Until I get permission to post it, I'm just going to sit on it. If and when I get permission, I'll post something on the EV:O newswire, when it appears I'll put it on the web site.

    • Ah... intruige.

      Ok.

Scott? If you're out there (and I know you are) then can you please explain what the hell is going on? I don't like "mysteries" - and Talos has implied that there is in fact one here...

Oh, and BTW Talos. You don't happen to play WH40K... do you? Just wondered about your name...

What's WH40K? Talos was a bronze robot who protected the shores' of Crete during Greece's Heroic Age. (Look under the info tab)

Actually, yeah. Interesting. And really, really weird.

Now that I think of it, would you want to look at the "Chronicles of Jake101"? They're done, and judging from how well this place is done, I would feel much better if you checked it.

Oh yeah, Grybs: I put in some quite nice photoshop pictures at the beginning of each chapter (and at the very beginning). They were made by me, and I think they're pretty good. I'll send you a compressed () copy of it via email...

    • Looks like I landed myself a job with the Docmother Plug-in...

Oh, and Grybs: I'm going to work on making those title graphics smaller: at most, I should be able to cut out 50K.

      ------------------
      <font color="gold">Bronze: the other gold metal.</font>

    • Docmother? Well... I've told Scott he can send me anything he needs to get done. Glad to help out etc... but busy working on my own.

As for lowering the filesize, don't worry about it. Most people are prepared to sit for a while and download something that's over 1 MB... so I wouldn't bother making it any smaller.

How about taking my suggestion and making number graphics (same style) for the chapters? Both A Hidden Legacy and Jade's Return have multiple chapters, but you haven't given them title graphics. It looks unbalanced... the actual text pages look scrappy compared with the title pages. I don't know how DOCmaker works... but I've had a look at the resources, and I'd (guesswork...) say that you should be able to call the same resource PICT from more than one bit of the document.

      Can you?

'cos that'd mean it'd be fairly simple to have a "1" graphic, a "2" graphic etc and (similar to HTML) call them from the relative pages.

Trust me, it'd look a lot nicer...

    • Since this thing is now about a plug why don't you post a topic on the webbord on it? Speaking of plugs, where can I get some plug making stuff?

    • It's not really about plugins... It's about Scott Lee's stories. Read the title... heh.

But I'll happily answer your question... you can get ResEdit from Apple's website, and the EVO Bible here. They're the only bits you need. I reccomend EVDevelopersMap or whatever they call it, because the coordinates system is hell. It's much easier with this one. But all the other tools suck.

      RESEDIT RULES!!!

      Heh.

And you'll want a decent graphics program. Infini-D is definately the easiest for beginners to learn.

    • So now I know what to get. So can you tell me what the web addreses for the things are?

The way it works is that I have a single graphic put in a number of places throughout the document. If you look in ResEdit, you'll only see one PICT resource. If I use numbers, I can use number "1" three times, numbers "2-9" two times, and numbers "10-12" once. That would cut it from 22 10K PICTs (220K) to 10 10K PICTs (100K).

    • Ok... in answer to the URLs:

      ResEdit = (url="http://"http://www.apple.com/")http://www.apple.com/(/url)Somewhere in here...

    • Alright, alright. Obviously, the message melee going on over here has not stopped or even slowed down. To take down all of this confusing talk, I would just like to explain the situation, and the reason for not being able to view Chronicles Of Jake101.

And yes, to tell the truth, this is mostly about the plug. Keep in mind everyone: Docmother was originally going to be ONLY a plug-in. It wasn't going to be massive EVO stories, huge projects full of all of my work, etc. . .Next thing ya know, the plug-in 'ill be really famous and we'll start making action figures, and t-shirts!!!!!

Now, I can't view the thingie that Talos made because I'm on a PC. I'm not eve near a Mac, ANY Mac. I'm not near it at all. So, we're either going to have to find a way to convert AT LEAST the text of the file into something that can be read by a PC, or wait about a month and a half for me to get my G3.

And man!! 2 PAGES make up this thread now. I came here to find the words written straight out: 55 COMMENTS. Ya damn right that's incredulous!!

    • DOCMOTHER PLUG-IN ANNOUNCEMENT

Missions are now being started. Oh, and BTW,Talos, you need to check your e-mail. The Defender A.K. graphics are done, and the TF-22 pics are very, very close to completion. Just gotta finish up some texture work on the barrels. ^_^

Also, are you looking for a courier vessel that can actually stand up to military ships? Well finally, the Docmother civilization gives you the answer. 😃 We introduce to you: the Janus. It's graphics are looking very, very nice and recent renderings have only made it better and better. We'll be making it's stats good enough, that is it's with the right pilot, it might even be able to stand up to a unmodified Crescent Warship, or Voinian Cruiser, better be careful though, if you get too cocky, you might find yourself getting killed by even an Arada. 😉

The Janus, like the TF-22 is entering texture work. While mainly concentrating on the graphics of the plug, we're finally rolling into the beginnings of the missions. I'm over here working on at least one section of a mission string a day, and probably will be working more and more and more as time goes on. Also, the wanted new found release date of early September might be delayed, but having a small demo out by then will likely be possible.

However, although work on missions, and ships has started to take shape, work on outfits will be later to come as well as dudes, and mission ships. We're making progress. Talos, your help will be needed. Grybs, now that I look at it, I'm not sure we will need you, but I will keep you posted, so stay tuned.
      Any questions?
