    • Free New Sprite Maker

We have had good feedback about our drag and drop sprite maker. we have renamed it p2s to avoid confustion with another sprite maker, and added a feature to allow cropping of oddsized input picts to a uniform sprite size. The new verison is freeware and available.

      p2s 2.0.1 PPC, Aug 2000
      --------------------------------
p2s is a tool for processing sequenced sets of PICT files into sprites for plugins to use in EVO

      p2s is freeware.

      Changes:
ĽThe absolute max sprite size is 400x400!
      Ľnon-square PICTs can be processed.
ĽOdd or incorrectly sized picts can be clipped to a uniform size. Holding down the option key during processes brings up a dialog where the fixed size can be entered. Each pict is centred and clipped to a sprite this size.
Ľ Change the name to p2s to avoid confusion with another program that already existed.

p2s takes a square number of PICT files (ie 4, 9, 16 .. 36, 49 ... up to a max of 256) and arranges them in a square. The square of picts is rendered in 256 macOS system colours with dithering if necessary. A mask file that is exactly white wherever the ship graphic is not black is created automaticly at the same time. It wil accept input PICTs of any depth. The output is two PICT files a .ship and a .mask file. These have additional PICT resources of the same graphics stored in their resource forks for easy access by ResEdit.

    • Great progress! I've got just a few requests:
      1. Allow use of PICS files, like PICS2Sprites. It's a lot neater and more efficient than having 36 PICT files.

      2. Allow mask-creation disabling. I for one render my masks, not just take whatever ends up as black.

      3. Make an option to have the result put on the clipboard, and not just saved.

Other than that, it's just about perfect!

      Thanks,
OK, we'll look at those too. Out renderer doesn't make PICS files so we've never wanted to use them. We like the clipboard idea, but since we make a ship and a mask we couldn't put both on the clipboard at once, but if the mask is disabled this makes more sense.

I think we will use the option-startup to set up a preferences dialog and just use the preferences when run normally. Stay Tuned!
