Shield recharge can be calculated for a generic ship like this:
(0.333333*shields) / (recharge rate) for HP/sec
But, if a player buys a shield augmentation, is the shield variable updated or is the variable uneffected?
Iâm not talking about outfits that lower your shield recharge rate. That obviously increases recharge u/sec. I want to know if a Voinion Cruiser bought some shield enhancements (which increase shield units not decrease shield recharge rate) would it recharge at 0.315u/sec (but still at 200 SR) or remain at the stock recharge rate of 0.225u/sec like it might if recharge rate were based on the shipâs stock shields rather than precalculating the total shield units and recalculating the recharge u/sec?

It's not about numbers.
It's about percents.
You can say, your shield will recharge at the rate of 2<pi>r to the -9th power, and no one will care or understand.
You can say, your shield will recharge 5% every second, and people will say, ah, here is someone I can trust and understand.
Your shield recharge rate is how long it takes to recover X% of your shields, not how long it takes to recover X units of shields.
Therefore, if a Voinian Super Duper Dreadnought Mark XI and a Shuttle both have (theoretically) a shield recharge rate of 30, they will both completely recover their shields in X seconds if they had 0 shield units operating before. Therefore, even though they both have the same recharge rate, the Voinian SDD would recharge more units per second, but they would both recover the same PERCENT of shields per second.
So if you were to add 100 units of shield protection to your dream ship, your shield would recharge faster. It will still take the same amount of time for your shield to go from 0 to 100%, but it will recharge more units per second.
But honestly folks
Who cares?
But that doesn't answer my question. If I bought shield enhancments on a voinion cruiser, it would have to recharge shield UNITS faster (maintaining a constant %/sec) or it would have to have precalculated the units/sec (shield units per second) ignoring the addition shielding in the equation.
