    • If I may be so obliged, andrew...

I would like to make a suggestion for EV3. How about making weapons and most outfits appear on the hull when they are bought and dissappear when they are sold?

Other people please add your suggestions as well.

    • Umm...sorry to say, but IMO, that would suck...

For custom graphics people like me, and anyone who makes plug-ins it would be near impossible to do (in my limited perspective at least)...It would be good, but also impossible to make plugs with new ships...

That's just how I see it, though if there was an easy way to make custom ships 'adaptable' I would be all for it...

    • yeah, say there were 24 weapons in the game, 40 ships, and you can have at most 4 of each weapons. you would need, uh, (24x40)4x4x4x4, so like, 500 or more sprites and 500 more hailing, shipyard, and scanning pictures. So basically, the program would be around 500 Megs, and who knows how much vitural memory. It would be totally unethical, and too time consuming.

      sorry...

Uh, noooo..... There are obvious methods for implementing just such a feature. For mburch to put it in would be rather easy... Hell, I bet that he's done most of the work already with the thruster and weapon glow overlays. But even if they don't implement such a feature, others may have already done so...

    • If they could have sprites for each of the weapons and then have X/Y/Z variables set on the sprites telling the program where to place the sprites. As for the the ships hailing graphic it would not have to contain the weapons.

    • So you two (kberg and GeneralAntilles) are saying that it could be implemented pretty easily, and it wouldn't take up too much space?

Also, could the weapons fire from the part of the ship that they are attached to?

    • Yes, and yes.

The downside is you have to render objects such as radars and turrets seperately; the upside is you don't have to spend all that time decorating the ship hulls with such things in the first place. 😛
