    • Mission Bit Messup?

If a mission bit is set in a plug-in, and then the plug-in is taken out of the folder, is the mission bit still set? I ask becasue I'm making a plug-in and when I test it, I don't get the first mission in the string but the 4th or 5th. I KNOW I got all the mission bit stuff right. I triple checked that. I'm guessing that since Satori Station in there earlier and this new plug uses the same mission bits, that could be it. Anyone know more about this?

    • I believe that the mission bit set/clear status is stored in the Pilot File.

So what you're saying is if a plug sets a mission bit, that bit is set FOR LIFE! PLEASE tell me I misinterpered that!

    • October, the status of a mission bit is stored with the pilot. You have it pretty much right. However, you can clear a mission bit set in a plugin by creating a mission that clears said bit. Easy enough; if you've played Clavius and Beyond, it comes with a 'cleaner' plugin that clears mission bits that may have been set.

How many mission bits can you clear at a time?

I believe the answer is two. But if you look at 'Clavius Cleaner,' you'll see that you can create a whole bunch of missions designed to clear out mission bits two at a time. And if I remember correctly, a player can accept up to eight missions as once. So that player could clear up to sixteen bits at a time.

    • actually because there are four compbitset fields, you can clear four at a time, so four times 8 is 32 bits at once.

Why not start a new pilot file or run a seperate pilot for each plug?
Most plugs recommend a new pilot file for this very reason

Alas, Chamrin, there are but two such bit fields per mission: CompBitSet and CompBitSet2. The other bit fields in the mďsn resource relate to mission availability (AvailBitSet and AvailBitClr) and mission failure (FailBitSet). So at best, you can only clear two mission bits with a given mission...but with the ability to accept eight missions at a shot, this should still give OctoberFost enough room to do what he needs to do.

Ah, but this isn't a TC. It simply adds more missions to the Lethean/Cydonian string...

Lethean/Cydonian stuff has been covered countless times, mostly notably in what I think is the finest traditional plugin ever made, Pale. If you think you can seriously expand on what's already been done, shoot. But try something more original, like that project of yours where you're the alien...

    • Cham, and PlanetPhil: EV has 2 compbitsets, EVO has 4. Please be more specific when you say things like that. 🙂

Well, to be honest I whiped this one up in about 4 hours :). Great War (the plug you described) IS my main project. This is just a minor thing I made when I was bored...
