If the crystals generate power, why does the Lazira's targeting pic show a "Power Plant"? Is the "plant" really just a big crystal or something?

If you check the description, the Lazira is a design with heavy alien influences, so it does in fact have a non-crystal power plant. (Whereas the Crescent Warships says 'Power Crystals'.)

Lots of scanner graphics for traditional Crescent ships do say 'Engines' or 'Weapon Systems'. These could just as easily say 'Propulsion Crystals' (etc).

    • Sounds good Pac!

    • So who thinks Azarda's should get some guns on their wings? Or should they stay in the middle?

    • Number A: They're called Azdaras. We know, we're picky, but "Azarda" and "Arada" are pretty close.

Back on topic: Mounting them on the wings?

      Hmm....

So, what we're talking about here is having an X-Wing Cannon Config. as opposed to, say a TIE Fighter's Config. (FYI, the X-Wing's cannons are also mounted on the tips, like you're suggesting; a TIE's cannons are both underneath the cockpit in the center, like it is in the stock game)

I have to say, wing-mounted guns would be quite visually appealing; and in truth, it'd be more what you'd expect from the Azdara: the cockpit is awful small to mount 5 or however many Phase Cannons it is on that small of a surface.

I guess it'd be up to Cartwright to make the call on that one, though.

      EDIT: Grammatical/spelling errors. Fixed.

    • Azdaras sorry. I haven't played EVO for 2-3 years. 😞 I hate Classic.

I don't mean on the ends, I mean like...

      Mid way through the wing.

      EDIT:
If anyone has a decent rendering (even plain) of an Azdara or any other fighter type ship that they could post here (or pm me) for a logo i'm trying to make (you'll see later tonight) I'd appreciate it.
      Thanks.

Get a Nova port. I find it much better than actual EV:O running under Classic. (Main thing that irritates is that shipyard and comm pictures have now had to be merged )

    • Yeah I have it. It's just difficult to get back into my old "Azdara squad leader" thing with my escorts, that took so bloody long, and I have to play Arpia2 😛

It isn't quite the same, but in 2005 we realized that this could be done, and Guy proved it was practical:
      http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/index.php...ost&id=1053
.... But no one ever took it beyond proof of concept, as far as I remember. It does give the "nose shots" a home in a Nova EVO port.

    • Very neat. Still looking for an Azdara render.

Also, Are the strands at all in bad relations with Violians?

I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but it's spelled Voinians.

And I can answer that one. The Strands (as far as I know) never even encounter the Voinians (and probably for good reason; they're too dang busy fighting each other! ), so they aren't really in any sort of relationship with them.

If they did encounter the Voinians, though, you can be sure they (the Strands, that is) would be screwed. Phase Weaponry is useless against Voinian Armor.

    • Yeah I remember the Phase being useless. 🙂
      Sorry about bad spelling.
      Cool, thanks.

    • It's okay, man. We all make mistakes every now and again. 😉

    • So, Warlord Mike, would you like to help me with my project?

    • Buh? Project?

I doubt it...college really leaves me with very little time on my hands... 😞

But do explain what it is you are doing. I'm all ears. 😄

Ah yes, there is the info slot in the shipyard, that's something. Thing is, with a number of Override ships, they're in a different 'state' in the shipyard picture from the comm one. Eg: the shuttle's screen changes from its opaque to its transparent state; the Lazira's 'arms' are closed up in the shipyard; carriers appear with their fighters; etc. All of which look out of place when the same shot is used for both. You don't expect features to be removed in new engine versions. 🙂

 The Lazira's arms close up?? I always thought that shipyard shot was simply taken from a particular distance away that the perspective made it look like that.

Yeah, well the ships 'scenes' are intended to serve the purpose of showing off fighters and stuff now. Which does make sense I guess.

Yes, it's in a 'closed' position in that shot. I have been thinking about testing 'unfolds to fire' on it (although that feature generally seems to just be irritating).

If your animation is just one alternate frame set, instead of the sort of longer sequence used on the EVN Miner, the firing delay would be less of a bother.

Perhaps the "folding wings" flag would be a better match for the Lazira -- you could set it so that the "arms" collapse next to the body when the ship enters jump and when AI Laziras "park" at planets.

    • Pac, why not drop a small render, like they have now in the shipyard slot, and drop a large render in the "Info" slot?

Laziras fold... wow cool. I agree with Trowel.

Yes, there is also a shipyard info slot. But that's not the point. The point is that the shipyard and comm slots now have to use the same graphic, and traditionally - in Classic as well - they used to show ships in quite different states. Merging the two means you get to show fewer of the ship's features (like the shuttle's transparent/opaque screen). Edit: To be more clear, you can't use the old shuttle shipyard picture any more, because it would also be the comm picture. If it was used as the comm picture, the question is: why are those seats I can see in the cockpit empty? Who am I talking to? So then, for consistency, you need to use the comm pictures across the board, or render new shots, and so on, and so on …

Override ship models are not high enough quality to be shown off in a Nova style 'large render' scene.
