    • Zachit Mission String

I just picked up the port of EV Override to Nova. I played EVO way back and bought Nova later because I had liked the shareware version of EVO so much.

So due to the lack of in-depth walkthroughs for EVO as compared to Nova, I'm a little stuck on the Zachit mission string for the Miranu.

I'm trying to get the "Defend New Mira" mission, and according to an Excel mission listing I downloaded, I'm supposed to be an Upstanding Citizen and have a Deadly combat rating. I have both (which took some time), but now I can't seem to get the mission on Outpost Zachit. Is there something I'm doing wrong, is the excel file wrong, or am I just extremely unlucky?

      Thanks for any help.

    • Welcome to the boards, starmetal 🙂
It looks like you're perfectly capable of receiving the mission, I expect the problem is just that you're extremely unlucky. The mission has only a 15% availability so it could take many tries before you get it.

Yeah, that would be my guess too. I definitely remember similar problems myself, whenever you want that mission it tends to elude you, hehe.

    • Haha alright thank you guys.

It's just frustrating because I've done all the other Miranu stuff except the nebula exploration.

Mission strings definitely take longer in EVO than Nova. I could bang out a full string in Nova in about four or five hours tops.

I assume the answer is yes, but it's possible to do the three main EVO objectives in one pilot? Wouldn't taking the Voinian side of the UE/Voinian conflict dramatically affect your ability to accomplish the Miranu string?

    • In Override, it is possible to do all three objectives on one pilot. The outcomes of each one should not have any problems with one another.

It is indeed possible to do all 3 objectives, however, those objectives are:

Unbalance the Strand War (either in favor of the Zidagar/Azdgari/Igadzra, you're can only supposed to do one per pilot)
      Explore the nebulae
      Push back the Voinian frontier

So if you do the Voinian missions, you don't actually complete an objective. Sadly, the Voinian missions in the base EVO scenario don't go that far, really, you blow up one or two minor UE planets but that's about it - your pilot remains a human and the Voinians just don't trust you.

As said before, yes. But you can't do more than one Strand string with the same pilot, either, without a cheat like Double Agent or whatever it's called, I can't remember. But I doubt that's been ported to Nova.

Technically you can but aren't supposed to do the Voinian string and still push back the frontier. In any event, the Voinian string doesn't go very far because, according to Peter Cartwright, all events in all storylines happen in the EVO timeline, and the Voinians end up losing the war but not being totally eradicated.
