      Alas, 'tis sad.

      Keep it alive, I'm a pro-lifer.

Though I never would've touched the thought back in the day...

      I'm voting for closure.

    • I have to say that the storyline that I am involved in is too good to quit now. I'd like to keep it open at least until I hear from Premonition. If she wants to stop or cannot continue for some reason then by all means close it.

I also tend to think it might be better to look at other options to solving your dilemma. The problem seems to be that your story-line has lost too many characters to continue successfully. Perhaps you could just write up the italicized past and move on with your present characters in the same bar. That would probably solve your problem and free you to continue. If not, try something else.

The Albatross we had pauses this long or even longer at times, but we still managed to finish everything. I think we can too, if we're willing to try.

I have an idea for a contribution as well, I'm going to write up an introduction post for an "open" character. She'll have a short past and very few details but I'm going to encourage anyone to use her when their characters are stuck or if they just need an interaction and everyone else is busy. I think that this might encourage some action. If you agree to keep the bar going, then I'll introduce her in a couple weeks (after finals!).

This post just goes to prove that I find it completely impossible to avoid writing more than is really necessary. Seriously, I think I could go on forever without anything to say sometimes...

    • I had not yet joined when ol' No Name started.
Count on seeing me in the next one; I have quite a talent for writing.

Yes, I see you know your way around a semicolon, good sir. 🆒

Paranoid: I know what you mean, but there's this intangible force that prevents new posters from entering a bar that's been going on for a long time. And yes, I have browsed the Albatross, if only to look for details in Jasan's past... There were quite a few big lapses in posts there as well.

My point is this: Beginning a new bar will bring new faces in. Old salts will join back in if they find the time, and so long as someone keeps the links for the old bars (Ozy ), you can always find where the old storylines left off. This means more people overall. 😉

    • I just really can't see that bar going anywhere at the moment, nobody's gaining anything from waiting to finish storylines that may never actually complete due to peoples' absence.

    • bawls I don't know what to do....just that something has to be done, even though I might be busy for a while. I'm going to have to vote closure...sobs We need to move on.

To Paranoid: if premontion decides to return, it actually will be fairly easy to continue your storyline. You just move your characters to the new bar when it opens, having escaped by the grace of some weird bar-annihilating disaster or space/time warp. 😛 Premonition's character can appear again too, eager to hunt down the prey he missed last time...

And Hamster: we should try to throw out some ideas for our eye-damaging epic in Hectors Cage some time..

    • The poll appears to have spoken... time for a new bar.

Don't be too upset, it's not a good time for bars in general, it seems. (which also leaves me wondering whatever happened to the Nova Bar Characters Quiz) 😉

      looks around

Oh, this isn't the Nova forums...hmmm...

    • Uhh..quiz...right...sweats

Actually, I still have the info and stuff for it and I did have it pretty much set up, until I found out that the site becomes so slow when you use a lot of info that it would probably take me a good 3 hours straight to get it done, and you have to do it in once shot. I just haven't had that sort of uninturrupted time for a long time...We'll see. I'll put it back on my priorities list and see what happens.

    • Looking forward to that quiz. 😛

    • Looking forward to that whole free time thing. -_-

    • Coyote only just rejoined this board after dropping out for several years, but was once semi-active on the EV and EVO forums on AOL back before AOL got all pissy and told Ambrosia that they'd have to start paying advertising rates for running a having a web presence on AOL!

Hate to see the bar go down even before I had a chance to sit in and tell my war stories (there I was at the Jump point when my hyperdrive failed and the "Humming Birds from Hell" came flashing in...), but there it is - I voted for locking the old bar down (and starting a new one).

Perhaps we could have two bars: one for war stories and the other for discussion of mission strings? Once upon a time, I even saw an online cartoon strip based in the EV universe! No, it's been a very long time back and and the strip expired not too many years after it's beginning, and Coyote does't remember the name of the strip. <sigh>

But rather than starting a new post everytime Coyote has another question, I'd really rather have a central place to sit back, put up my heels and unzip my shipsuit (er, cancel that - Coyote has scars in places that most people doen't even have places!) and have a mug of blogg.

Coyote waits with baited breath (no nasty remarks, please) for the opening of a new bar Real Soon Now...

Gib mir Schokolade und niemand wird verletzt sein!

    • I say just start your war stories topic now. Why wait to have them in some kind of bar?

Well, <shrug> the Coyote is more comfortable in someone else's bar, but WTF, over! Got your self a good point there - and I don't know why we can't have war stories and mission strings in the same place, nicht wahr?
