      I was given the mission to observe the Voinian dreadnought by the UE. They gave me a cloaking device to do this. Unfortunately, I was killed on my first attempt. When I re-loaded my pilot, it said that "this pilot file appears to reference information from a plug-in that is not installed..." etc. Then when the game loads, I no longer have the cloaking device installed! If I return to Earth, nothing happens (suggested by Ambrosia support about a year ago, last time I played). If I abort the mission, the UE attacks me! I have included my pilot log below. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks.

    • Just an update. I know its been a long time since I played this game, but as I recall, landing on a planet always saves the game. I just played my "broken" game for around ten minutes (doing the dreadnought mission without the cloaking device), and after landing, my game was not saved. I tried again, just loading and moving one sector away before landing again. No dice.

      Now I remember why I stopped playing. sigh

      I should also have mentioned that this is the Windows version of EV: Nova, and I am playing the Override plugin.

    • Well, techinically Override isn't a plug-in, but rather a data file replacement.

      I can't quite figure out what's wrong from your pilot log alone...one question I can think of though -- did you start your pilot after you installed the Override conversion, or before?

    • I started the pilot from scratch after overwriting the EVN data files. Everything was working perfectly up to this point. 😞

    • I managed to find some other people with exactly the same problem. It seems David Dunham was looking into it, but I don't know if it was ever resolved. Does anyone know of a workaround to this particular problem? It seems at this stage that selling my ship and never taking that mission again (basically, avoid the cloaking device) is the only thing that is going to help. Unfortunately, I just bought this ship, and I don't really want the UE to be p*ssed at me. :mad:
