    • The time for the strike had come.

A group of 110,000 ships jumped into the Vastan system and opened fire in a massive barrage of missiles and torpedoes. As 30,000 ships broke off and headed out towards Ferraut, the rest of the fleet charged forward and began to fire their primary weapons and beam cannons. The Ferraut destined fleet hyperspaced out to try and stop reinforcements while the rest of the fleet (80,000 ships) engaged the Edien defenders furiously in a massive battle...

      ----------------

Lars grimaced as the Vengeance was hit repeatedly. Calling in Pirate reinforcements from nearby systems (Lars always brought bodyguards), the Vengeance swung around and opened fire with the little amount of weapons it had.

As Pirate warships began to hyperspace in and add their gunfire to the firefight that was already going on between the Templar and Vengeance, a squad of Crescent fighters zoomed forward and hit the Templar with phase fire. As turbophase pulses lanced out and struck one fighter, it lost control, hit another fighter, and the two blasted into the Templar. Minimal damaged was caused but it helped the Pirate just a little bit.

    • Evaniol ignored the fighters, and the warships. He simply chased the Vengeance, keeping up pace, and opened fire. The deflectors had blocked a lot of fire, but soon went down. After a few minutes, the SAI modules had all been fired off. The two ships were locked in combat for a while, the Pirates too confident to feel a need to back off.

After nearly ten minutes, the Templar switched it's attention to the pirates around it, blasting many into oblivion. But then, the Vengeance made a huge strike against it, tearing apart the Templar's shielding.

With that, the weary eyed Evaniol sent the Templar straight at the Vengeance, all it's weapons firing. Just before it collided, the Templar managed to pull up, the shields of the two ships skimming each other, damaging both ships quite severely.

Realising the situation was quite simply hopeless, Evaniol decided it was time to pull out. The Vengeance, however, had taken his wrath. It's shields had been wiped clean, and their were great gasts in it's armour, although no breachs. The clamps holding the Nightmare had been seriously blasted, and the Vengeance obviously could not go into hyperspace until the clamps had been repaired.

Taking heavy fire in the process, the Templar left, travelling at full speeds back to SL space.

      - - -

The Strand League Assembly had gathered at the Gateway, led by SilverDragon. The commander of the ZSN Division, and an Assembly member, Admiral Aldaris, would be present, as would his Colonel. Due to Evaniol's absence, Iosa was representing the IGNA Division. Tassar, currently without a strict occupation, would also attend the meeting, as would Laiors, straight from the Milky Way.

Sitting at a table shaped like a crescent, the Strand League gathered to consider events.

"Firstly," began SilverDragon, remaining seated, "I would like to note that Evaniol is well and good, although he was not successful in his mission. He will be back in Strand League space within a few days."

Iosa smiled. "That's good...what's the actual situation?"

"He damaged the dreadnought severely, but FSA reinforcements forced him to retreat," SilverDragon replied. "Now, am I correct that IGNA has achieved it's primary construction goal?"

      "Yes, it has," Iosa replied.

"Then right away the Division funding will be transferred to the ZSN. Is that okay with you, Aldaris?" SilverDragon asked.

"Yes, it is," Aldaris replied. "Our ship construction shall be the same - three hundred ships. That goal will be achieved in fifteen days, I'm happy to say."

"Meanwhile, we have Technology funds. Currently, they are going to IGNA for the Particle Railgun. Afterwards, are there any projects you need help with?"

"Personally, I have no particular problems. My Colonel had a few ideas, however," Aldaris motioned to Corsair.

Corsair was busy staring out, seemingly uninterested, but he quickly brought himself back into reality. He fixed his eyes on SilverDragon, unnerving him slightly.

"I had been pondering the possibility of replacing the standard phased crystal warhead in the Redfire rocket with a Kyhdron crystal warhead," Corsair stated, each word pronounced. "As an alternative research project, the Zidagar Space Navy Division would benefit from a replacement on earlier ECM designs."

"ECMs don't work much anymore. Guiding systems are getting too good," Tassar pointed out.

Corsair nodded in acknowledgement. "There are three main options in missile evasion. The first is an afterburner, to boost out of range of the missile - an ineffective design. The second is the ECM, or more accurately, the jamming system, whether it be in the form of flares or a signal ghost device."

"And the third?" Iosa asked, curious.

"CCM," Corsair replied. "Chemical counter measures. Widely ignored as a missile evasion device, CCMs can, however, be extremely effective devices. Their basis is not to jam or outrun the missile, but to neutralise it's warhead. I believe an early version was attempted in Igadzra history?"

SilverDragon nodded after a moment. "We tried a CCM several hundred years back. It didn't work."

"Correct," Corsair stated, "but I already know the mistake your ancestors had made. They attempted to neutralise the warheads by preventing the chemical reaction from occuring completely - for example, I believe they attempted to cool missiles down to prevent combustion?"

"I won't even ask how you know this," SilverDragon grinned. "Yes, that is correct."

"That method is inefficient. A much more effective design would be one that stabilised the elements within the warhead itself, preventing the chemical bonds from being torn apart during combustion. The missile would hit, but all it would do would be damage according to it's mass and the force applied. Any shield matrix would simply vaporise the missile without taking any damage at all."

SilverDragon pondered the thought. "Keep the CCM idea on the back shelf for now. At the moment, we need to finish up with the particle railgun, fix up the Citadel, and also start up the ZSN."

Tassar spoke up. "Hey, SilverDragon, question."

      SilverDragon turned to him. "Tassar?"

"I was wondering, instead of being in IGNA, about being in the IXD. I feel this sudden urge to teach a few thousand Ediens the meaning of the word 'pain', and I heard that you wouldn't be leading the IXD anymore."

"I'll be leading," Laiors stated. "But of course, I could do with a subcommander."

    • Misteriously, for the men abort the Savior, the H.M.S. RavenSahdow had came back in the Milky Way much soon, and with company. The ship was followed by three frigates, the H.M.V. Hanareobyk, the H.M.V. Tumbrydyng, the H.M.V. Kajoleur and the cruiser H.M.V. Ceggregathar.

      - Mister, it seems that their are four Horosk vessels that came along with the RavenShadow. However they are ready to attack.

      - Open all chanels.

      - Chanels open mister.

      - Horosk vessels, Nelson Psack at the head of the Sladerei Solidarity, you are presently in the Milky Way, next to the S.S.S. Savior and the Horoth Military Ship RavenShadow that has travelled to the Andromeda galaxy to meet the Horosk nation. The circomstances might not have been ideal for you but we understand the shock of finding tourself in a totally different environment. We will not fire at you, our shields are even not raised, nor are our weapons ready to launch and attack. I wait for your response.

      - Mister, their turning off their weapon systems but not their shields.

      - Mister, imcomming transmission from the H.M.V. Ceggregathar.

      - Commander Thorin of the Horosk Navy. What is this mascarade, the Solidarity has dissappeared centuries ago and only legends talk about the Horoth. What do you want.

      - The Horoth Union and the Sladerei Solidarity are as real as you are Commander Thorin. The purpose of this Horoth flight towards the Andromeda Galaxy was to prove that the Horosk Communism had not been crushed by the Edien.

      - We have never been crushed and never will!

      - If you want to go back to your home, I suggest an little exchange between us: lets compare our maps of the Galaxies and know about eachother. When Horoth Union, Horosk Communism and us will meet, we will talk about more important matters conserning our nations.

      - That is resonable... Only by viewscreen though.

As the three nations took their history course, the team of scientists were already working on changing the coordinates at which the worm-hole would open next time. It had been decided that the H.M.S. RavenShadow would escort the four H.M.V. ships back to Horosk space.
Later, a complete delegation would be sent if the first meeting was probant.

In Horath, the new had came and they weer already celebrating. The "reunion" their brothers had raised the moral of all, even if much more had to be done before a good relation could be obtained.

Abord the Savior, military officials we already collecting data about the new ships they had in nex to them. A report would be done for the next Solidarity-Council. They also had a bigger project in mind.

The Sixth Armada had been completed and had started its training in Grenits. All were equiped with the new torpedo and Tachy-kinetic weponery. As the Sixth exited the industries, the Third moved towards Horoth space to undertake its new mission of temperer in the region. It would be placed under the command of Officier Thytchy that would assist the Horoth Union's defense until new orders came.

      ---------------

Thorin groweled at the message from the Sladerei. He groweled a respone back through the com system. The Horosk never used visual if they could help it. "Why should I believe you!? For all I know this is all a trap made by the Ediens to gut us all!"

"We are not lying to you. Why would the Ediens waste all these resources just to trap a few Horosk ships?" Nelson replied.

Thorin hunched over and thought about it for a moment. "I still don't believe you much about the Horoth... Sure, we know that a group of our less wise people left Andromeda because they were cowards... But that doesn't mean that they are the Horoth!"

Thorin paused and thought for a while. "We will not disarm our weapons, nor will we lower our shields. If you want to meet us, you can come about my cruiser via shuttle or frigate. Otherwise I won't meet with you. Thorin out."

    • As the tense communications between the Sladerei and the Horosk continued, the Kayan emmisary walked across the room to talk to the Sladerei science officer. "I believe there may be a way to convince the Horosk we are telling the truth."

"And what would that way be?"

"Well, one thing the Kayans have learned is that each galaxy has a very slightly different frequency of background radiation - kind of like a fingerprint. The radiation in New Galaxy is different from that in the Milky Way - and that in the Milky Way is different from that in Andromeda. If the Horosk know anything about background radiation patterns, they will be able to confirm this with their own sensors. Hopefully that will be enough to convince them that they are in fact no longer in Andromeda anymore."

      -----

In Kayan space, retrofitting of Kayan Militia vessels with SAI and Turbophase technology had been completed. The technology had proven quite effective in the battle with the Igadzra against the Pirates. Unlike many races, the Kayans had no true heavy warships. Kayan ships were universally light and maneuverable, which made bombing runs with enhanced defense pods possible. The SAI modules installed on all Kayan Aradas and Laziras gave them an extra punch from long range, while the turbophase cannons and turrets further strengthened their short-range capabilities.

Ad Astra Per Aspera - "A rough road leads to the stars"

    • As the Kayan emmissary finished his sentence, Enti Praisar and him went to see Psack to evoque the new possibility.

      - Good news... Are those differences grea enough to actually been analyzed from a ship Mister? If not, it seems that the Horosk will have to experiment the presence of a Sladerei in their vessel.

      - Psack, said the Kayan emissary, I have no idea of the Horosk detection capacities.

      - We then talk the three of us. Mister Comm, ViewCommSys, now.

      - In place Mister.

      - Commander Thorin, here is an Kayan emissary. Kayans are to us the nation that have the most knowlegde in detection and can prove that you are in the Milky Way. Go ahead Mister.

      - ** If you select the passive mode of your sensor and select the 56 779 001 wavelenght band, you will find out many distinct variations. Please compare those of the moment to those at the biginning of your raid. Their should be a difference. This wavelength is emitted by the galaxies and differs from one to the other.

      - I wait for your answer. Cut.

As the evolution of the relations with the Horosk progressed, the Solidarity Council had voted a new disposition that would let the Navy have reaction capacities. A new fighter would be developped and the new technologies would come with it and enhance the other ships. In nine posts the fighter would come from the shipyards.

** Suppositions about the way to prove our location, please ameliorate this theory Thunder.

    • Repairs on the Citadel continued, and the first stream of ZSN ships came out of the Strand League shipyards. One of the Zigras was earmarked for Corsair - who, being the mysterious person he is, marked one of the Ziradas in the bay as his personal ship.

Work on the Particle Railgun continued, and hopefully it would be designed in twenty days at the most.

As well as that, Evaniol had returned, and although damaged, the Templar would not need any major repairs.

"We are the Horoth. We ran from the Ediens when it looked like we would all be overun, and we where glad when we found our people had survived. We had believed we where the only remaining free people of our species, and even our outlook did not look good, and still does not.

"We ask that we may talk, to discover what has happened to our old home. If you wish proof of who we are, we will submit to medical examinations, as well as show you our knowledge of the time before the Ediens came.

"We await your reply, old cousins."

    • The new fighter in development would integrate the new capacities: hypermaneuvrability. This maneuvrability will incorporate lateral thrusters, the ship will be able to change its course parallely to the one before. This will anable it to evade an incoming torpedo, missile or beam. When it will be finalized in three posts, it will also be integrated to the Destroyers and Firgates of the Navy. The acceleration rates would also be increased. This will maintain the traddition of a fast and swift Solidarity.

The new Fighter named still named under its code Ť ĄĄ !! ĄĄť would be equiped with seven Tachy-kinetic canons but no torpedo launcher. The designed had to be light to fit into the Frigates's bays and to respect certain stealth parameters. Its speed would be a bit slowere than the one of the Firefly. Its new flight capacities would make its as leathal as a Federation Azdara. The

The civil research on the new bacteria had been finished and its production had started. It would increase the liveble area of Grenits in one post. The military researches were harder: the use of this living form in space necessitated a complex system to keep it alive. Its functions would still be to rebuilt the armor or strenghten it before the shield or down.

    • Aldaris grinned. "And the flight tests?" he asked.

He and his Colonel, Corsair, were in a private ZSN meeting room in the Gateway, and Aldaris had just received word that ZSN was now comprised of one hundred and fourty battle ready vessels, and all their officers had been trained under test labs for the equivalent of eight months real life training.

"We've tried some tests against both IGNA and basic Akrahd vessels using advanced testing methods," Corsair replied. "ZSN defeated Akrahd at a right of four to one, although Akrahd ships are likely to be upgraded since we last took readings."

Aldaris paused. "What about the results against IGNA?"

"The Izar beats the Zirada 7 out of 10 times, the Zidara beats the Izaga 6 out of 10 times, and the Zigra and Igazra are at definite evens. However, once the IGNA Particle Railgun has been developed, we expect major changes in those results."

"We're being too lenient with letting the Strand League send so much funding to IGNA. Once they've completed their railgun, and repaired the Citadel, I'll convince them to re-direct research funds to us."

Corsair nodded slightly. "We have two projects on the line, as you know."

"Yes..." Aldaris murmured. "The Kyhdron phased rocket and the chemical counter measure - both excellent ideas, although the CCM may take a while to research. I also have a third project planned."

Aldaris handed a datapad over to Corsair without another word, and Corsair accepted it, and quickly scanned through.

      Booster Rocket
A booster rocket rack will be placed at the back of all ZSN ships, with the main thrusters. B rockets can be fired at the same time, or one at a time. A single one being fired can substantially increase a ship's speed; several can increase it's speed astronomically. Obviously, larger ships need more booster rockets to achieve the same % speed increase due to their mass. Each ship will have enough booster rockets that it can fire all of them at once and increase it's speed by 300%.

Zirada: 1 BR Rack, 4 B Rockets (for 300% speed if fired in unison)
Zidara: 3 BR Racks, 12 B Rockets (for 300% speed if fired in unison)
Zigra: 8 BR Racks, 32 B Rockets (for 300% speed if fired in unison)

      (end)

Corsair looked up. "These designs are interesting."

"Using them, we can get a Zidara going faster than an Azdara. More than just plain interesting," Aldaris smiled faintly.

    • The researches on the fighter were not that hard: it would be more polyvalent with its "infinit" rounds of tachyons and resistant to counter the fact that it lacked torpedoes. seven posts until it could come out fromthe industries.

The Solidarity-Council had voted the building of a new station, that would house the industries that could be held on Grenits, like the shipyards and a permanent base for the Savior. The Station had been built eliptically, when the Savior was an rounded rectangle. The new station would supress the need for Voinian help to repair fastly the Savior and upgrade it when necessary. It would also serve as a base for the Fifth Armada, the one specially reserved for the defence of Grenits for the next year.

The prototype of the armor regenerator had been tested and would be adjusted to work perfectly. It could be fitted on all ships of the Solidarity. The amount of armor added to ship's hull was significant enough to protect it from the blast of a Edien quantum torpedo in the case of a Destroyer. Next post, the device will be fitted to all ship of the Navy overa period of three post.

    • The Ultimate Conspiracy - Part III

Dash was awoken by Daros, who informed him that they had just come into the Deneba system and were awaiting permission to enter the sub-space rift. This was all part of the working of the rift; if there was little traffic, ships would enter as they please. If there was a lot of traffic, groups of 25 or so ships would each wait for permission to enter the rift one and a time.

As Dash looked out the viewscreen, he saw numerous Kayan and Horoth ships circling the area as every once and a while a Kayan Firefly would enter or exit the rift. These ships were part of the investigation team looking into the disappearance of the Emerald, of which the mystery had yet to be solved.

Daros then picked up a datapad and handed it to Dash. “Just came in from headquarters...” he said, and turned back to piloting the Instigator.

Dash looked over the information. It was about Dilgar, the leader of the failed Kayan rebellion. Apparently, though he did think the Kayans cowards for retreating so soon, never had previously expressed his want to rebel. Normally he had been quite happy with what the Kayans did. His actions in the rebellion were quite unusual. The same went for Drodo in the Azdgari rebellion. Though he also disliked the government, even more so than Dilgar, he was also anti-violence. His plan for the rebellion was most unlike him.

Something didn’t seem right. Why would Lars Magna waste so much work on causing all these failed and underplanned rebellions? Why did he use people who weren’t normally even close to the mindset of a Rebel. In fact, information had also just come in that the ITA had approached the Pirates for help After they had rebelled, hinting that they had rebelled first and asked for help later. Somehow Dash knew that the answer to all of this lay in the Milky Way and the UPL.

Finally, Daros signalled to him. “We’re going in now...”

A group of 19 ships entered the sub-spacial rift, and instantly they were swept along in a swirling blue tunnel that emerged from space suddenly, bordered on all sides by a circular ring; the actual jumpgate which was used to open the rift at will. A big improvement over waiting for the right time to open it.

Though they were going at over four times the speed of normal hyperspace, the ship didn’t rumble or vibrate at all, except for just a second when they first entered the rift. Dash marvelled at it; it was beautiful, with rays and ribbons of white light swirling around, and stars barely visible beyond the blue haze.

Dash thought about where he would start his investigation. First he would look around Kayia to get any possible tips or leads to the presence of Pirate activity. Because of the Ediens, Voinians, and Federation, Pirates in the Milky Way always cloaked their bases and sometimes even their ships, though due to lack of funding and proper factories that wasn’t common.

He would somehow have to find a Pirate ship and follow it to its base. Dash had a lot of tricks for tracking ships and finding hidden bases, and he was confident that he would be able to do this.

Once he found the base, he would have to get inside it. Maybe pretend to be a Pirate or renegade from another nearby system. Once onboard, he would search around, trying to find any suspicious characters that would be linked to Lars. Of course, that wouldn’t be easy; ALL Pirates and Renegades looked suspicious. Maybe he could look for turbophase weaponry or a ship that looked like it had come from the New Galaxy. Though both the FSA and the UPL were Pirates, and though both upgraded their ships, and though both favored each other, the ships in either galaxy were much more different than the ships of the other. Ships in the Milky Way were generally more heavily armed, had Quantum weapons, and were faster. Ships in the New Galaxy were better shielded, and had the distinctive Turbophase and Enhanced Thoron Beam weapons.

Finally, after a few hours in transit (which was, in truth, more like 2 days, it only seemed like a few hours to Dash and the others), the group of ships came out of the rift and were thrown from the gaping wormhole-like apature (sp?) in a flash of white light.

Dash’s mouth dropped open in awe as he looked across the system. Merchants and independent traders were going here and there, hundreds of Federation warships and fighters swarmed the area. And yet Kayia was still nothing compared to the Federation capitol world of S-570, now known as New Earth.

New Earth and the surrounding system was truely a wonder. Dash had only seen a few holo-pictures of it, but it was nothing like seeing it for yourself. There was a series of 4 stations in it, along with 1 very large and beautifully engineered station. Then there was New Earth, New Verril, and Auir (the large planet that both New Verril and New Earth orbited). All three planets were heavily colonized, and there was never less than 100 non-Federation ships in the system at a time. Voinians often came to that place, and now many other races and governments could be seen there.

Dash shook off the thoughts of wonder as Daros piloted the Instigator down to the spaceport at Kayra, the capitol city of Kayia. This system to was large and a wonderous sight, with the massive monument that the Kayans had erected 6 years ago in the distance. It was odd, knowing that soon it would be 7 years since the galaxy was first turned into chaos. Still seemed like only yesterday.

Dash exited his ship and payed quick visit to the Federation Intellegence Command Center, located on Kayia. The Federation didn’t have too much information on Pirates or their wherabouts; the UPL were mysterious, like wraiths of the void of space. They never stayed in one place for very long, and often would switch between three different bases in a system constantly to keep from being found out. Federation Intellegence also hadn’t been able to find out much about Pirate goings on inside Federation space; ever since the opening of the sub-space rift, more and more independents had been coming to Federation space, causing a bit of a problem for hunting down Pirates.

Once that was finished, Dash met up with Daros and Kili. They had both been waiting in a bar very popular with mercenaries and renegades, watching for anyone who could even remotely be involved with Lars Magna.

Ordering a drink for the three of them, Dash noticed that Kili was fingering his weapon nervously. Of course, it only seemed nervous to non-humans; for an Azdgari it was quite normal. They were easily excitable and generally hyper, and preferred to keep on their toes.

Dash casually glanced around, and was about to turn back to Kili when he managed to see out of the corner of his eye a cloaked figure. Usually he wouldn’t have cared, but ever since his encounter with the dark cloaked figures on Athena, he was cautious about this one. He whispered to Kili. “Take a look at the black cloaked figure behind me, table 7. What is he doing and who is he with?”

Kili didn’t move his head, but just kept on talking with Daros, then responded in a whisper to Dash. “There are six of them. Three at the table you talked about, two at table 8 at the far corner of the bar, and the other one that’s standing near the doorway.”

Dash glanced at the doorway, and just saw the cloaked figure pass through a door marked “Employees Only”. Emerging seconds later, he took back up his position near the door.

Dash whispered a quick code word to Kili and Daros, then nodded. While Daros watched the others, Kili got up and began to walk out to their ship, apparently just to get something. Along the way he tripped and fell into the figure, knocking him against the wall as a pistol dropped from underneath the figures cloak. Getting up and apologizing, Kili moved on, and Dash looked at the pistol before the stranger picked it up again. “A turbophase pistol...” he whispered to Daros.

As Kili returned shortly, Dash got a sudden suspicion as the waiter brought their drinks over. As the waiter set them down, Dash carefully and secretly pulled out a hand sensor and scanned the drinks. Just as I thought... Dash thought to himself. They’re all poisoned.

With a swift motion that looked like an accident, Dash yelled and Kili then banged on the table, sending all of the drinks flying onto the floor. The glasses shattered and the brandy spilled and bursted out onto the floor. Everyone looked at Dash as he spoke. “I told you not to be so clumsey!” he roared. Then in a lightning fast motion he stood up. “NOW!!”

As Kili and Daros rose, Dash pulled out two phased neutron pistols and whirled around to face the two cloaked figures at the end of the bar. Pulling the trigger in rapid succession, bolts of neutron energy streaked towards the two men who were standing and pulling out there weapons. Blasting into them, blood spurted out as they were thrown against the back wall and fell to the floor, dead.

Kili had fired on the man near the door, but he rolled over to a table. Kicking it over swiftly and hiding behind the new barricade, he exchanged several shots with Kili. The Azdgari guard was hit in the shoulder and fell. The figure stood and pointed his weapon at him, but stiffened as a bottle of whisky can hard down on his head. As glass and drink flew, he turned around, and was promptly blasted sky high with a single blast. Flying far into the air and landing on a table in back of Kili, the guard struggle to his feet and looked at the man who had shot the assailant.

Federation Pilot Rick Hardslab smiled at the dead Pirate, now lying with a massive blast wound in his chest. He looked at Kili. “Sorry about that. Just wanted to help you out a bit there.”

Kili smiled and then turned to Daros. Daros had opened fire on the three Pirates that Dash had first noticed. As one was blasted away and fell onto the table in back of him, breaking glasses as he fell, the other two pulled out turbophase rifles and began to exchange fire with Daros.

By the time Kili had turned to look, the three were still gunning it out when suddenly Dash lept up into the air and landed behind one of the attackers. With a swift kick that one was sent headlong through a window. The other attacker turned, but he wasn’t able to do anything, because a beam of cyan energed blasted through his chest. He fell to the ground, completely dead and lifeless. Dash turned to see Rick Hardslabs bodyguard, Hans, with a large Quantum Beamer Assault Rifle.

Dash thanked the two Federation officers then ran out after the last Pirate which Dash had sent through a window. That is, after they gave the bar manager a tip for the damages of course.

Running around to the side of the building opposite the door, Dash bent down to examine the ground. Shattered glass lay around the area, as well as footprints and some splattered blood. “He musta ran off. Let’s follow these prints...”

The three ran after the footprints, but then Kili headed off to the Instigator. Dash and Daros ran into a hanger bay, just in time to see a black and red arada take off and flying out and into the sky.

The two then rushed back to the Instigator, Dash yelling through his combadge for Kili to get the ship prepped and ready for takeoff. Jumping aboard, the engines of the modified Lazira went to full throttle as the ship bolted low across the spaceport, drawing looks from all the people on the ground, then turned up sharply and headed towards space.

“I see him,” Daros reported, looking at the sensor screen and at a blue blip, now outlined with green to signify that it had been targetted. “It’s engaged an ECM device. Adjusting sensors to compensate.”

As Kili bandaged his injured arm, Dash piloted and watched the viewscreen as a small white flash beamed in the distance then disappeared. “He’s gone to hyperspace!” Daros yelled.

“Follow him!” Dash yelled back, and the Instigator jumped ahead into the realm of hyperspace...

      -------------

A few jumps later, they were still pursuing the Pirate arada. Furthur scans had revealed that the arada was probably a courier vessel. It was heavily armed and modified, equipped with both quantum and enhanced thoron beam weaponry, and had specially enhanced engines and fuel tanks. Dash presumed that it was made for going back and forth between the two galaxies.

Suddenly the Instigator entered the DSN-1273 system and watched as the Pirate arada disappeared inside a massive and dense asteroid field. Activating a special scattering field that Dash had aquired from the Federation a few months ago.

The sleek black vessel gluided through the system, keeping a wary eye out for any Pirate ship. As hundreds of asteroids floated around the system, occassionally colliding and sending thousands of tiny micro-meteorides flying into space. As a smallish asteroid bumped into the Instigator, rubbing against the hull, making an eiree sound and finally clanging off into space, Dash thought he saw a ship.

The ship moved forward quicker, and Dash finally caught sight of the ship that they had been following; the black and red arada. The ship glided over to an asteroid, then suddenly flew inside a massive crevice. Dash moved forward to investigate, but suddenly bolted behind a large asteroid as two crescent warships exited the crevice.

Dash spoke as he watched the radar screen. “That must be the Pirate base, or at least one of them in here. Reminds me of ‘The Rock’, that one base which got blown out of the sky a while ago.”

The two dots on the radar screen, representing the two CWs, moved around the system a bit then headed away deeper into the asteroid field. The Instigator followed. Along the way they scanned the Pirate base; it was hollow inside, and Dash detected 150 some ships within. Moving deeper, Dash sighted two more Pirate bases, both carrying 150 ships each. They were also armed with quantum turrets and missile launchers.

Finally, Dash watched the CWs as they approach an incredibly large asteroid and began to patrol the perimeter. Dash scanned the large asteroid and gasped. It held a total of 250 ships, along with a major command base, shipyard, outfitting station, defense missile pods and pop-up turrets, as well as a rather large communications array and research station.

Dash looked at the grim situation. “This looks like the heart of the Pirate operation. They have quite a set up here, especially with the fact that all the asteroid bases we’ve seen so far are also equipped with cloaking devices. Now if we can just get onboard...” He was stopped by Kili, who pointed to the base as the black and red Arada streaked forward and entered. “Looks like our friend Lars Magna is also involved in this...” Daros commented.

Dash nodded as Kili piloted the Instigator behind an asteroid, deactivated the scattering field, then moved ahead towards the Pirate base. The dockmaster hailed them. “Pirate Lazira, identify yourself.”

Dash spoke. “I am Captain Scumdog of the Pirate vessel Instigator. We come with some supplies recently raided from a Federation convoy.”

The dockmaster laughed. “Federation convoy ey? Ye are a brave one to go after those. Land on docking pad 3.”

Dash sighed with relief as Kili piloted the Instigator through the opening and into the main docking area. Moving past a containment field (to keep in oxygen) and into an area where cargo was being offloaded by Pirates, the Instigator set down on a landing pad nearby another lazira. Dash and Kili walked off the ship, disguised as Pirates, while Daros landed the Instigator back down on another landing pad. There he would stay and be the “Gettaway Car” so to speak.

Dash and Kili walked through the Pirate base and into a bar. As Dash sat at one table, Kili walked off to explore the base and see if he could find out everything. As Dash sat their, drinking his burban, three high-ranking looking Pirates sat down at the table behind him.

Dash heard them speaking and tried to listen in as best he could. “I’m telling you, I was followed here!” one Pirate said.

“Don’t be a fool Skipjack,” another said. “They’d never get past our sensors.”

”But to heck with all that about you being followed, what’s your message?” the third said.

Skipjacked grumbled and then responded. “Lars says that he’s been trying to cripple the IGNA. He simply can’t do it without risking his borders. He’s already lost over 500 ships, and is getting sick of wasting agents on failed rebellions. He wants more supplies, more agents, and more of the drug.”

The second one laughed. “Hehe, so ol Lars is beggin for help again? Not odd or unexpected that’s for sure...”

He was silenced as the third one grabbed his collar and shouted at him. “Shut up **** ! If you didn’t whine so much we might actually get somewhere.” The third one called down. “We can give him more agents and mind drugs, but ferrying supplies is getting too dangerous. If he wants more supplies he can find his own. Right now I’m too busy trying to work out a government coup, rebellion, and the distributation of weapons to 300,000 freedom fighters. Hard enough getting past Federation and Voinian security, and the boss can’t give me an unlimited amount of help. Got that?”

Skipjack nodded as **** grumbled about no one listening to his opinion. The third one, who seemed to be the leader, continued. “I’ll have another seven agents with the mind altering drug board your ship. You can leave immediately once that’s done.”

      Skipjacked grinned. “Thanks Lans.”

Dash returned to sipping his glass as the three left, when suddenly Kili reappeared and hastily sat down. “I found out a lot of stuff,” he said. “First, they have a lot of weapons and rifles loaded up into all these crates. Looks like they’re being taken somewhere. They also have this massive communications array, reall fancy. Could reach all the way up to Kade easily. I tried breaking into a cargo bay to try and find out what was inside, but I got caught. I killed the guard and then ran back here. We’d better leave...”

No sooner had Kili spoke than two Pirate guards rushed into the bar, phased rifles drawn. Dash nodded and the two sat up and began to walk out. No sooner had they left the bar, than they heard the guards yell after them. “You two; HALT!”

Dash turned around, pistols in hand. Blasting away, the two guards fell within seconds as the bar turned into chaos as Pirates ran here and there, many of them running after Dash and Kili.

Kili drew his rifle and blasted away a guard, sending him flying through a window. The two began to run as Pirates charged after them. Holding them off with phased neutron fire, Kili started to run towards the cargo bay he tried to break into. While he worked on opening it, Dash held off the Pirates.

Bolts of phased neutron energy streaked through the air, blasting into Pirates, sending them flying and splattering blood everywhere. Finally, Kili shouted. “Got it!”. The doors opened and the two rushed in. Kili quickly closed the doors again and turned around to look at what was inside the bay.

Crates of quantum and turbophase weapons were all over the place, as were small metal crates with a skull and crossbones on the top, signifying that whatever was inside was dangerous. As Kili tried to open one, Dash continued looking and found a crate full of explosives. Among them; turbophase explosives like the ones used to kill his contact in Horoth, and had been used in the attempted killing of himself and Helena. Taking out several explosives and putting them in his backpack, Kili held up a smooth metal cylinder and showed Dash. “It’s full of some kind of drug...” Kili said and Dash scanned it.

”Yeah,” he said, “Some kind of mind-altering drug by the looks of it.”

Suddenly Dash became aware of Pirates on the outside trying to open the door. Thankfully Kili had blasted the control pannel, so they would have to open it by force.

Dash looked around at the cargo bay. The situation looked fairly bleak. No other doors, no way to get Daros on the Instigator to help, Pirates were about to break into the room and kill them both, and Dash still had to report his findings.

Suddenly Kili frowned and look around. “Hey, do you hear something else? Like metal vibrating?”

Dash shrugged. “Probably just the ventilation...” He stopped and looked up at a ventilation shaft. “Kili, climb ontop of those crates and crawl through that ventilation shaft. I’ll join ya in a minute.”

While Kili began to climb, Dash set up a series of turbophase explosives near the door on top of some weapons and explosives crates. Once he was finished, he climbed on top of the crates and was about to enter the open shaft. Kili looked at him from inside. “Dash! Hurry up!”

“Wait...” Dash replied as the doors to the cargo bay sparked and then opened slowly. Pirates began to rush in, looking for them in the almost complete darkness (the lights had been shorted out when Kili opened the door in the first place).

Dash pointed his pistol at one of the explosives and fired, then rushed into the ventilation shaft as the two of them ran quickly through the cramped tunnel. In the cargo bay, the bolt of phased neutron energy glowed purple and shot through the air, blasting into an explosive. That one went off, which in turn set all of the other ones off in a massive fireball which killed all the Pirates in seconds. Soon the explosives had reduced half the cargo bay to rubble and the whole area was on fire. A second major explosion went off, sending fire belching through the cargo bay and at the Pirates outside. As they ran for cover, fire crews rushed forward to try and contain the blaze.

Meanwhile, Kili and Dash continued to run through seemingly endless passages through the bowels of the asteroid base. Finally, Dash came upon a ventilation exit and looked out through the grid and into the command section of the asteroid. Pirates moved here and there, coordinating raids and operations. There was a map of the new galaxy, plans on tables for actions that Lars might take, as well as the Pirate named “Lans” that Dash had heard. Something then clicked in his mind; Lans Chimera, one of the most dangerous Pirates ever, thought to have been killed years ago. He was a master crime boss, and it was not unlike him to coordinate such an audacious plan.

Before the two moved on towards the docking area, Dash noticed some blue and black lying on a table. It looked like a pistol, but like nothing Dash had seen before. His heart stopped as he realized what it was. “Oh my.... Oh my... Oh holy cow, geez.... That’s an Edien Anti-Proton pistol!!” he whispered hoarsely to Kili. As he watched, he gasped again as he saw someone talking to Lans Chimera; an Edien, presumably an officer from the looks of it.

“Oh geez...” Dash said, unable to take his eyes off the Edien. Kili tugged at his arm. “We have to go NOW!”

The two quickly scurried off through the passageways, then finally kicked open a grid and crawled out behind some cargo containers. Looking around, Dash smiled; the Instigator was sitting just a few dozen feet away.

Rushing forward, Dash and Kili walked up the loading ramp of the Instigator and ran into the bridge. Dash suddenly looked and saw Daros being questioned by two Pirate guards. The Pirates turned around to look at Dash, began to pull their weapons, but it was too late; they were both blasted back by multiple shots from both Dash and Kili.

Daros sighed with relief then grinned. “About time you got here!” he said, somewhat annoyed, but mostly greatful. He did not like his little chat with the two Pirates. Just a few minutes ago they had boarded the ship and began interrogating and threatening Daros.

As the three took their stations quickly and discarded the two bodies, the whole asteroid was swarming with Pirates, and within just moments they’d be discovered. Dash thought hard, and finally spoke to Daros. “What’s in the cargo bay directly in back of this ship?” he asked.

Daros looked at his scanners. “Mostly just standard supplies and such, but there’s also some fuel tanks and explosive containers. High yield stuff.” He paused. “And if i’m thinking what you’re thinking, then it would be possible to ignite them with some turret fire.”

Dash smiled as two Pirate Aradas moved in front of the Lazira, and then opened fire. As quantum pulses impacted the shields of the ship, Dash yelled to Kili. “Fire Dispersal rockets! Load rear missile launcher, and fire!”

As two dispersal rockets flew forward, exploding in fireballs which engulfed the two aradas and send them flying, a Pursuit Missile was loaded into the rear launcher on the instigator. A second later, the missile was launched into the wall behind the ship. The missile blasted through the thin metal hull, and then exploded, which set off the fuel and explosives.

“Now!!” Dash yelled and the Instigator shot forward, moving over the edge of the landing pad then quickly moving downwards; just in time to evade the fireball which belched forward and singed the lazira.

As the Pirate Aradas floated around, dissorientated, and Pirate ships moved here and there trying to find the source of the fireball, the Instigator shot towards the entrance. As a Pirate Lazira fired a rocket at it, Kili barely managed to evade the rocket, which continued on moving and blasted into a wall. That set off a second fireball, which engulfed several Pirate ships and then kept on going. As structural beams collapsed and walls exploded left and right, the Instigator activated its afterburners, sending it flying through the entrance as the docking bay was engulfed in flames.

Dash sighed with relief, but far too soon, as the ship was rocked as pursuit missiles blasted into the ship. Daros yelled a report. “Pirate Lazira incoming! Coordinates 2.509! Rockets incoming!”

The ship rocked and the lights flickered, and Dash nodded to Kili. “Load rear launcher. Fire dispersal rockets! Set for proximity warhead!”

As three rockets were fired, the enemy lazira weaved back and forth and was able to avoid heavy damage. As a pursuit missile rushed forward, a consol exploded and Kili spoke. “Heavy damage to rear shields! Rear launchers disabled!”

“Dangit...” Dash said to himself. “Evasive maneuvers! Move towards the asteroids!”

The Instigator weaved in and out of asteroids, barely missing quantum fire and rockets which crashed into the asteroids and sent space dust and chunks of rock flying. This continued for what seemed like ages. The two ships continued the duel, the Instigator shaked from the near misses and chunks of rock thrown up at them from the asteroids.

Kili tried hiding behind asteroids, sending asteroids flying at the enemy ship with a tractor beam, but the enemy ship continued firing and chasing. Finally, Dash had enough. “Kili, evasive pattern Delta 9.”

Kili nodded and grimaced as the Instigator engaged afterburners and shot forward, moved around an asteroid in a complete circle, and then came out onto their original course; behind the enemy ship.

      “Arm all weapons; fire!!”

Missiles and rockets streaked into the lazira, blasting apart its engine section and disintigrating the wings. As a violent and brilliant fireball engulfed the ship, Daros detected multiple incoming Pirate targets.

“Let’s get out of here...” Dash said half to himself. “Engage to hyperspace! Set course for the nearest Federation base!”

The Instigator deccelerated, and finally blasted through space in a streak of light, entering hyperspace and moving towards the nearest friendly base...

      -----------------------

The Igadzra system was simply swarming with Federation warships preparing for the next offensive, when suddenly the Instigator jumped in from hyperspace. The ship was still damaged, and a Federation battlecruiser quickly intercepted it and towed the damage light warship to a Federation shipyard.

As the Lazira was being repaired, Dash was debreifed by Federate officials. He reported about his investigation in the New Galaxy and how it had led him into the Milky Way.

After hearing his full story and suspicions, the commander excused himself and left the room. Dash just sat there, thinking over how much he had learned. What was the “Mind Drug”? How exactly was Lans involved in all this? Was he the main boss, and Lars his pawn? Was Lars his own boss and just cooperating with Lans? Or was there a third character in all of this, who was the boss of both Lans and Lars? And what were they planning that concerned getting bask Federate and Voinian security?

As Dash thought over the whole thing, suddenly the door to the room opened and two alliance commanders entered. One was the original commander, the other was Admiral LoneIgadzra. Dash shook his hand. “It’s an honor to meet you, I’ve heard much about your record.”

LoneIgadzra smiled, somewhat suspiciously though. Of course, most all Igadzra looked suspicious, considering their paranoid nature, and LoneIgadzra was no exception. He was unusually suspicious and alert, and was also a former assassin. Even in his post-assassin days, Carnotaur still used him in special quick assassin strikes, many of these which took place when LoneIgadzra still worked as a mercenary with Carnotaur.

“How would you like to help coordinate a tactical assault?” LoneIgadzra asked.

“Errr... I’m not sure if I understand you...” Dash replied, somewhat confused.

LoneIgadzra grinned. “The Federation is going to assault Lans Chimeras stronghold.”

    • The battle in Vastan raged between the Federation and the Ediens as the Federation was slowly beaten back. The Ediens flanked the Fed fleet, and soon Scorcher ordered a full retreat. As the Feds jumped out, the Ediens went back to repairing the damage, when only an hour later three fleets jumped in from three different hyperlinks.

Taking the Ediens by surprise, the three fleets (two of which were new fleets, the other was the fleet which had first engaged them) pummelled the Edien defense fleet. Weapons blazed and missiles and torpedoes streaked through space as the two giant powers battled...

      ------------------

After a few days, Lars Magna finally returned to Pirate space along with the Pirate Dreadnaught and his prize; the Nightmare - an Igazrada class dreadnaught.

Pirates immediately borded the ship and began to work on inspecting it and seeing what they could find out about it. The Igadzra would have to move fast to stop Lars before he was able to completely analyze the ship...

    • OOC: Come on guys!! Post!! 🙂

      -----------

Commander Thorin, after looking over the information he was getting, finally relented. "Very well.... I'll believe you, for now. I request a meeting on the Savior immediately with either a Horoth representative of the Horoth leader himself! The Sladerei can also be there, if they want..."

He sighed and then waited for a response. This was, in all honesty, too much for him. Thorin wasn't an extremely good high-stress person. And whenever Horosk get too stressed out, they get even more paranoid, nervous, and jumpy.

    • - I am pleased to ear that you have changed your mind, commander Thorin, said Nelson Psack. Do you want to dock your the H.M.V. to one our multipurpose dock, you are welcome, otherwise we will send a shuttle. I will meet you in half as soon as you enter the Savior with the Horoth Representative Vlic Tyrin. The Hororth Leader is one is way from Horath and will arrive in three days. See you later. Cut.

-Unfortunately, mister Enti Praisar, you will not have the possibility to encounter commander Thorin. As soon as he will accept to meet other people than Horoth or Sladerei, we will contact you.

In the administration room, that once served as a parliament, Psack held the Solidarity-Council for the first time outside of Sladeria since their arrival in the Milky Way. Though the meeting had been short, twenty minutes, they had been able to agree on twomajor points: -The Horosk must have good relations with the Horoth, otherwise this mission would failled miserably. - Need more informations the Andromeda galaxy, to know were to direct the worm-hole next time.

Five minutes later, Psack was in dock 5 two meters before commander Thorin. He was less impressive than what he had eared from its voice, he had refused to communicate by video. Thorin was four feet eleven inches in height, but seemd to have good physical abilities.

-Pleased to meet you commader Thorin, I am Nelson Psack at the head of the Sladerei Solidarity and next to me stande Ridil Maskin Alo, the Horoth representative abor the Savior.

      - Can we move to a better location to start our meeting.

      - Sure, a conference room has been prepared for the three of use.

As they moved towards the room, no one let a word exit from their organes, nor no one let an eye look at the other. The conversation would not be easy.

They sat and Maskin Alo asked Thorin what was happening in the Andromeda galaxy. The answer was simple: the Horosk have one man left which has two strikes, and their comes the a fast ball...

      To Carnotaur:
Is RMA still present, is positive, he could do the history of the Horoth. The next part of the meeting will be post, waiting for the answer.

    • As Thorin, his second in command, and 2 other Horosk guards sat down (well, not like normal bipeds sat, seeing that Horosk were not bipeds) at the table, the other Sladerei and Horoth officials sat down.

The Horosk just stayed there, their eyes looking at the strange new aliens they had encountered. Not a single one moved, except Thorin, who spoke. Despite being rather small creatures, the things were extrordinarily tough and would stand up to something over twice their size.

"The Horosk Communism has been fighting the Edien Empire for over a century. Our minefields are the only things which keep us alive, and they are the pride of our technology. However, we will by no means give them out to anyone.

"Nothing much has happened in the Andromeda galaxy, mainly just the same thing; raid after raid, failed assault after failed assault. The only people that can break this cycle is either the Rarkyl if they choose to make an offensive and it is successful. Either that, or the Ediens make a successful offensive.

"But enough of us. I want to hear what has happened in this galaxy."

    • Nelson looked at Thorin in the eyes, as any Sladerei would do when being serious:

Ť The Sladerei Solidarity is a new in the Milky Way. We have drift for the last two hundred years after leaving the Andromeda galaxy. Now, the Milky Way is rather stable with the Edien ennemy to fight. The Federation and the Voinian are the two governments doing the messy work: patrolling squadrons of hundreds vessels can be lost, battles of one hundred thousands can barely win agains the Ediens. The Solidarity has helped once, during the destruction of the Edien dreadnaught.

Before our arrival, the Milky Way was divided into many nations: the Voinians had defeated the United Earth; the Azdgari had ruled what is called the Crescent; the Captains of S-570 became today's Federation Alliance; the Ediens came and conquered half of the galaxy; the Kayan discovered an anomaly which permitted to travel to the Great Mellanic Clound. The Miranu, Zidagar, Igazdra, Azgari, Renegade Alliance came with them. They meet the Horoth, and the xenophobic Akrahd are discovered.ť

And what about the Horoth Union, said Thorin.

      Ridil Maskin Alo answered:
Ť We also left, but found a rather inhabited galaxy, the Great Mellanic Cloud, our only ennemy before the arrival of the Refugees from the Milky Way was and still is the Akrhd ainly defend our selfe using mines and with burst raids. Otherwise, we have friendly relations.

The moment we eared that the Sladerei Solidarity had came in the Milky Way using a worm-hole generator, we immidiately knew that our chance to know about what had happened to our Horosk neighbors had increased.ť

      Nelson continued:

ŤThe Horoth Union and the Sladerei Solidarity are not nations that have the need to conquest the universe to affirm its power. We do own buziness, and are ready to retaliate those who are agressing us. I hope that I made myself clear. I hope that I made myself clear in saying that the worm-hole has not been constructed to invade by any mean your galaxy. I hope tha I have made myself clear and that clear that I am repeating those words so that they weight has much as this vessel. I will not order any Sladerei to injure any Horosk. My words will be challenge has soon has you will accept to travel back to your space with RMA alone,or including myself abort your cruiser.

Studity is not the word qualifying my last action, the words are confidence and optimism Commander Thorin.

The five beings in the room did nothing except pumping blood through their circulatory system. Until either Commander Thorin or Ridil Maskin Alo added their words, nothing would happen.

    • As Thorin's second in command growled menacingly, Thorin remained still, thinking. "Very well. You will escort us to Horoth space."

Thorin's second in command, Balin, turned towards Thorin with wide eyes. "WHAT?!!" he yelled and growled, in the unusual Horosk voice. Thorin growled back at him, showing his large teeth. "You will do what I tell you to do!!"

Balin backed down, and Thorin turned back to Nelson, then got up from his chair and began to hover. No one had ever seen a Horosk before, not even the Horoth remembered that they once had this power (which was now useless due to radiation effects from the Large Megallanic Cloud), and so hovering was a little surprising. When they had asked earlier about how the Horosk did it, Thorin remained silent. Now, in the room, nobody moved. "Well?" Thorin asked.

    • Thorin's manifestation was intriguing, no wings nor air pump seemed to let him hover.

      - ... Well, continued Psack, I must tell you that from our present location to Horoth space, a fer millions of millions of kilometers have to be travelled. Meaning that the possibilty of encountering new nations for you is totally probable. I hope that you will be able to sustain the diversity of the Milky Way and of the Large Mallanic Cloud.

With Thorin's silence as a response, Psack continued.

      - I can propose to you to dock your vessels during the trip so that your compatriots have the occasion to have more space abord the Savior, since it will take about a month to travel to Horoth space.

      Ridil Maskin Alo added:

-Plus, a commitee of Horoth representatives of the population will come abord the Savior in about a week. If you accept to meet them, you will learn a lot about how we lived since the separation. However, I have to tell you that when you will have to travel back to the Andromeda galaxy... and encounter the neighboring nations.

The prototype of the new thrusters has been tested on a fighter. Though the conditions were not be optimal because of the differences in conception with the future fighter, the results were considerable. The theoretical data gatered proved that the thrusters were effective enough to push a fighter in less than a second eight hundred meters to the left, right, up or down. Its abilities to pitch the nose and roll were also as comparable, but less spectacular to the unexperienced eye. The most spectacular ability was the combination of the three sequences: 1) the fighter could continue in a straight line and still aim perfectly at the target 2) it could change the curve of its flight and orient the four canons at the target. The test on the Frigate and Destroyer were not as great, but the were now the most maneuvrable ships of their class. The Integrate Maneuvrability Enhancer (IME) had a nice future in the Navy, in four posts, all vessels will be equiped with it.

The theoretical development of the ĄĄ!!ĄĄ fighter was completed. Now came the moment to assemble the prototype in order to verify was had been acquired. The fighter would be called Havoc, as it would literally cause panic when attacking ennemy fleets. In four post, the first Havoc would come from the lines of productions of the Station.
