    • unusual ship and some plug questions

1: I finally made enough money to trade in my Turncoat for a Cresant Warship and decided to try my hand at dominating, so I went to a Renegade System and demanded tribute. I was about half way through dominating when the A.S.S. Heedless an Azdgari Warship with six Azdara escorts jumps in and starts killing renegades left and right. Between the two of us, the rest of the defense fleet was wiped out relatively fast. I'm wondering If this sort of thing is suppose to happen if a battle takes too long or was it just luck that a pers ship came along?

2: I'm using the EVN for windows to port EVO for the first time. A few days back I wanted to get rid of a fighter bay so I checked out the addons page, downloaded Outfit MODs, unstuffed it with Stuffit for Windows 8.0, converted the .rsrc file to a .rez, and dropped it in the plugin folder. It worked the same way as I'm used to from EVN. The plug was a little wierd though, some of the outfit pics, names, and descriptions were mixed up. I figured either it was meant for an earlier version of EVO or it had bugs in it. But it worked enough for me to sell the fighter bay and remove the plug. Is anyone familiar with this plug? Is this normal for it?

3: Tonight I saw a plug called dispArmorPercents2 which I wanted, so I downloaded and unstuffed it but instead of a folder containing a read me and a .rsrc file I got a 0 byte file of unknown type. I tried a couple other plugs and I keep getting the same thing. Is it my stuffit program or something else? I know it was working fine before. I even tried reinstalling the program.

sheer luck bud. That had never happened to me. Once the Incontrivable jumped in and whooped up on me, but that only happened once.

    • The incontrovertible , pal.

Uh... where did ya download yar plugs for the EVO port of the Nova engine? in the EVO addons page or the EVN addons page? Plug from the EVO addon page are in EVO format, they can't be used with the Nova engine, even the EVO port. If the fighter bay you wanted to sell was the crescent fighter bay, it can be sold normally, you don't need a plug.

      Apart from that, incredible luck!

The incontrovertible is a UE destroyer with triple shields, A UE fighter bay, and huge supplies of missiles and rockets. Don't even tell me that it is easy to defeat. I didn't have that great of a ship anyway.

    • Many of the flagships are indeed more powerful than the ambrosia admin ships

    • The plug which worked was from the EVO addons page. I didn't know it shouldn't be compatible with the EVN Windows port, guess I'm just lucky it worked enough to use it. I'll try getting an EVN plug to see if the Stuffit works. I was selling the Krait bay from the Turncoat I just traded in. The plug also allows me to get the turrets and guns, rather than one or the other, so I used it again on my new ship when outfitting it.

Yeah, if you take an EVO plug and run it through the Mac-to-PC plug converter, it makes sense that outfit availability would (more or less) work.

To be somewhat more technical about it, most of the fields in EVO outf resources have EVN equivalents. On the Mac side, you might get the same level of functionality that John experienced by just taking an EVO plug and changing the type and creator codes to those of an EVN plug. On either platform I think you'd be risking instability or buggy weirdness -- EVN outf resources are more complex, so there are going to be fields either blank or filled with garbage. Other resource types will have worse problems than outfs, and troubles will compound as resources refer to each other.

I think I remember that this plug, made for the EVO Nova port, lets you sell Krait bays (which are normally flagged as unsellable, though they can be bought). It also makes some other slight changes to the game:

    • I tried more or less the same thing and man do those plugs get scrambled. You get desc text in control bit spots and all sorts of stuff if you look at the converted plugs in evnew. I thought maybe things would be possible to convert by hand. I guess we'd all have Port Authority already if that were the case.

    • I've personally found that the only Flagship I have trouble beating is the Incontrivertable (yecky spelling), other then that they're a piece of cake. Most of the Ambrosia people aren't too hard to beat. Andrew Welsh is downright easy (sorry Mr. Welsh) unless you attack him expecting a normal freighter or something. In that case, you're doomed. With them, I find that the only hard ones are Jason Woo (I think, the one in the UE Carrier) and John Cook. Other than that, pretty easy.
