    • pilots vs plugins vs F-25 2.0.1


      I played F-25 1.4 for a while, then started 2.0. I have all the same problems starting the initial string (to Mumb or not to Mumb). I just spent an HOUR reading the posts on F-25 2.0. In the Read Me file for F-25 it says to NOT use a pilot that was used with a plugin. I have only one pilot, didn't know I should make a copy of it before playing a plug-in. I used the Triple Agent Plug once after completing the EVO Objectives. But in the Read Me file for Triple Agent it says 'Triple Agent will not alter your pilot file in any way that will preclude the usage of other plug ins". So? Is it my pilot? Do I still need to create a new pilot to play 2.0? When will 2.0.1 be available? I have a dual G-4 OSX, is that the problem? Oh yeah, Bomb and Co...great job, fun game! And I rather liked the 3D.

    • F-25 2.01... sigh... I can answer. :frown: It was under beta testing, it had reached beta 6.2.9 before Bomb announced that his PC got broken, and that there will be no more testing before his PC is repaired or he gets a new PC. It got broken in October, so I decided to wait 6 months before I would ask if he had got a new PC or the PC fixed. So I would E-Mail him in March. Of course, if Bomb post posts in the thread, I can ask it now already. And yes, I was one of the beta testers.

    • Fine, General. I might as well reveal my identity. I am the last beta tester for F-25 V2.01. And General, that was incorrect. It was during the summer. I talked with Bomb about releasing the plug. He said he want to keep it from the public on the basis of lack of interest. There is a possibility that he might port F-25 to work with the EVO Port. Some new weapons were added, and outfits were added.

      I think the PC is repaired by now.

      Not so secret identities. Like I said, I read ALL the posts for F-25, that includes the beta testing info. A person can learn a lot by persevering. Hmmm, so much for 2.0.1, I can wait. But I still need an answer about my pilot. Can I use my old Triple Agent Pilot or not. I don't want to waste the time creating a new pilot if I don't have to. But I will if necessary...I am consumed and addicted :). Thanks, wondergirl and her wondercat.

    • You can't use the triple agent plug-in and an old pilot with F-25.

      The triple agent plug just toggles a few flags so that you can work for all sides in the standard EVO universe. To state the obvious: F-25 is not the standard EVO universe.

      F-25 uses most of the flags in EVO for its own purposes which is why you have to start with a new pilot. However, I seem to recall that you don't really loose anything when you start F-25 with a new pilot (haven't played it since it was first released). I seem to recall that there is a setup mission that gives you enough money to buy a decent ship and get moving (or at least start doing a lot of to and fro between F-25 and Miranu space).

    • Yes Yes that is correct, Skippy. When you land on Earth, reject the UE Shipping Starting Mission, then click on yes when the dialogue of this will help you with blah blah comes up.

      **Yes my PC was out of commission for a long time as was my hotmail account, but they're both back up now- however, the state of 6.2.9 remains the same- on hold. It's been so long that I have no idea what I was fixing or doing- all of the major bugs Cade and Kauthor sent over were all fixed early on- but if any more are still there remains to be seen. I don't have the time or the inclination to really start it up again- but what I can do (if anyone wants it) is give the files a last look over then upload whatever I have- they'd be an improvement over the earlier version, that much I'm sure of.

      Its good that your PC is fixed. You were fixing things like typos, Seeker Drone prices, and inherit fuel generation of the Bomarii Cruiser... There are still bugs, two of them serious. Its sad if you dont want to start the beta again. :frown: I wanted to fix ALL bugs in F-25 that stop it from being perfect. On the other hand, it frees me to betatest other plug-ins. Yes, I want it. When you give it a last look, fix this bug, or the Xarnez/ Querin string will be unplayable halfway through. A old E-Mail of mine explains: "I cant complete Campaign I: Xarnez! I fought the Kytaan. Not sure
      how many ships there was in the mission, I fought every Kytaan I met. Only
      later I saw my escorts had long since gone. I went to Querin Alpha as the
      mission briefing said, but nothing happened. I searched the boards, and saw
      you could go to Quera instead. I did, but nothing happened. I aborted
      mission and got it again. Then I tried Quera, and nothing happened. I guess
      this is the same Problem CaptAceHarddrive had with Campaign II and III, he
      couldnt complete them because he was on PC. Unless you can you give me a
      small fix plug, I am stuck." If you would fix the second bug, it would be nice too. Its a bug with the Marauders fighter bay: "The three fighters appear outside the after purchase. You
      can return them to the bay and board disabled fighters, but you cant get
      them out because the Imperial Fighter bay is not a selectable secondary
      weapon. Later, one of them pops out, and after a hyperjump all pop out. Make them buyable. Every other kind of
      fighter is buayble: Stealth Attacker, Kytaan Gunboat, Kytaan Fighter and
      Predator.". Yes, please upload it. Even if it doesnt fix as much bugs as if it had been finished, it IS a improvement, and it is fair to let everybody have it.

      Proverbial can of bugs? Is this one of your jokes? Or do you mean that there is still a lots of bugs left? Allright, Ill wait until late February. And thanks for taking a look at my issues too. The first issue makes the plug useless halfway through for every one if left unfixed. The second is irritating and reduces the value of the Marauder.

      wondergirl: Yeah, starting a new pilot really ISNT daunting if you use the Pilot Builder. It makes sure you have right things set, so you can be sure it works, and not need to have a carefully done pilot with no plugs etc.

      **F-25 (in its various incarnations) is a huge expander plug-in for EVO- it continues off of the Proxima Nebula exploration missions from the Miranu string.. Don't remember how many missions are in it (and I wrote it..:) ), but several hundred.. One of the more popular ones for EVO... the newer versions are pretty decent. Fun ride...
